Is this true?

From Magix support

Thank you for your message.
I believe that mp4 is not supported by Vegas Pro 14 for neither import nor export.

Vegas Pro 14 inputs and outputs several choices of MP4 wrapped video. For MP4 output use either MainConcept AVC, Sony AVC or XDCAM EX.

I guess this was , pretty much, well half really , rhetorical. This is magix support telling me that Vegas does not even render mp4... well this is just a bizarre statement. I thought it was worth sharing.

Just goes to show that you don't need to always believe what a support person believes.

But how could they get it so wrong? It doesn't give one much confidence in support. Obviously some training needed.

@Chuzz What is the ticket number for the ticket you received this response on?

In Vegas Pro 14, mp4 is supported for both import and rendering.

Hi Eric , here's the ticket. [Ticket#2017062617001547].

I could always render mp4 in V14 but not 4k with surround. Is that possible?

Caveat, I withheld the support name for the public post ... just so that's clear. I'm not out to publicly humiliate anybody.
