Issue with effects in Vegas Pro 20

dominique-p wrote on 4/5/2023, 11:28 AM

In Vegas Pro 20, when I add an effect, for exemple : cookie cutter, I can't see it in real time in the preview while I'm editing it. I see the result only when I quit the effect editing window.
Could you help me.
Best regards
Dominique

@dominique-p please see if the suggestions in e.g. this thread help.

You did not indicate what nVidia driver version you have installed. Try installing version 522.30.

Try installing version 522.30.

That's what I suggested in @vkmast's link.

Owning Vegas 19 (Steam version) for 2 years, was happy until hitting this known but unexplained updated Nvidia drivers that makes the preview stop working.

So I rolled back and stayed with Studio 522.30 Nvidia drivers since.

Recently downloaded Vegas Edit 20 trial to see if this error still persisted and found that it was fine on the latest Nvidia drivers (was testing on 561.31 Studio).
Checked 'preferences' and GPU acceleration was enabled. So decided to pay for Vegas 20 Edit as a new purchase (since I could not upgrade from a Steam version).

You know what? after activation, the same problem - preview black screen with above error message. Quite baffled and I am going to return this Vegas 20 purchase as it doesn't give me anything above my Vegas 19 Edit.

@Chor-Yong Hi, I've been running Vegas with the 561.31 Studio driver since it came out with no problem, so this isn't a Vegas problem per se, why not keep running on 522.25 if that works ?

Chor-Yong wrote on 4/22/2023, 12:10 PM

Hi @Former user 522.30 is the last version that works for me (and with many other people too). So I will stick with this.
But it's weird to be stuck in time while Nvidia drivers keep rolling ahead.
Nvidia hasn't been addressing this issue on their forums either.

@Chor-Yong Hurts my head to think about how many different PC combinations there are & to create one driver that suites them all, but also I don't remember having to roll back to an older driver on this PC or my previous 🤷‍♂️ Hope you find a solution 👍

The nVidia issue is only with laptops/mobile video cards...

Chor-Yong wrote on 4/23/2023, 2:11 AM

@jetdv it's happening on my Desktop.
Btw, anyone here knows how to apply for returns/refunds? All references to returns in this forum leads to dead-ends. Any one email I can send a message to?

Could you disable one RTX 2060 and try again? VEGAS may be getting confused with two of the same GPUs. It works fine with my desktop 2080 Super.

Beyond that try a reset of VP 20 and see if it helps. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/

Your issue isn't what the original poster or Jetdv are talking about which affects NVIDIA laptops. It's not about a black screen or error message.
