Just only video editing

Juancito wrote on 2/1/2012, 5:36 PM
My problem is I don'T find any guide on how to proceed (in details) to cut and copy just a part of an video event (of other media or partial piece of the same event) without changing original audio track of other video segment.
I think that I am going to have the same problem when I try to do it for "Just in audio".
Can anybody helpme ? I can get it also in spanish

You should definitely be able to cut and paste events on your timeline simply by selecting, cutting and pasting using the Cut and Paste commands.

What are you doing that's not working?

There's a button at the top of the editing screen that looks like a padlock over two strips of film. Click on that to activate it and it separates the audio from the video. With it selected edits you make on one won't affect the other.

Turn it back off, and the audio & video are joined together again, except with one caveat: anything after a point where you've made a cut still be separated from it's corresponding audio/video. However, you can re-attach them by selecting both and pressing G to group.

Thanks chienworks for your help, but I can't see the button you say at the top of the editing screen (that you say it looks like a padlock over two strips of film).
Just to try seen this button, I go to the first general screen before choosing a new project (Perhaps you mean this button will appear when I'll be working with some media in the timeline)..

Maybe this button should be at some of the tools bar, and I also tried to find it in some options to add icon to the tool bars, but neither is there.

Well, he may be busy right now. Meanwhile...

If your Toolbar does not show it, try to find 'Ignore Event Grouping' in Options > Customize Toolbar... Available buttons and add it.
