Magix Movie Studio 17.0 Platinum not responding on open

I've been using Magic Movie Studio 17.0 Platinum for a few months on a new laptop without issues, however yesterday it's not able to open successfully. After the splash screen, parts of the UI load while the app stops responding and cpu usage rises up to 20%.

Files from the event viewer dumps seem to be inaccessible but every time this happens, this event appears in event viewer -> system: "Display driver igfxn stopped responding and has successfully recovered." (There's no new updated available for my display driver.)

I've also tried uninstalling the app, using ccleaner, even Geek Uninstaller, then installing it again, updating drivers and Windows update, but still getting the same behaviour.

I'm using Movie Studio Platinum Version 17.0 (Build 223) on Windows 10.

Any pointers?

"If it worked before", it's at least worth trying to reset the software to default settings. Instructions here. Follow closely and be sure to be able to clear the cache.

I've tried that as well but to no avail. I've uninstalled my graphics drivers and now runs fine with the default Microsoft driver. Apparently the latest update of the driver is known to cause the above event viewer error.
