Make Movie: Advanced settings disregards render loop region check box

Kelvin-Perry wrote on 10/25/2023, 4:05 PM

I am using Movie Studio Platinum 13.0

I am digetising PAL video cassettes. To get the correct resolution output I need to use the MPG2 option on the Make Movie dialog and then select advanced settings to choose the PAL option with Audio. But when I do this the entire video track is exported and not the loop region that I have asked for (by checking the box on the initial dialog).

If I do not choose advanced settings the loop region is rendered only but I get no audio (as per the description of the MPEG2 option).

To solve this I have had to create a project for each section of the video I render. This is not ideal as I want to keep the source video all in the same project.

Is there a bug fix for this?

Hopefully somebody on the forum may be able to provide some suggestions, but re:

... make sure that you have build 453 as that was the very last build of Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 13 as well as being the last version of VMSP released (originally released some 9.5 years ago) under Sony ownership. It would not be expected that there will be any updates to VMSP13 not only given its age but also that the entire Vegas Movie Studio product line was discontinued a bit over two years ago and thus is no longer under developement.

There is a similarly named product currently available from MAGIX but it is a completely different product to the now defunct Vegas Movie Studio product line.

Sorted. There is a dropdown at the top of the dialog where there is another loop region check box.

@Kelvin-Perry  ... From a bit of research, build 987 is the last build of Movie Studio Platinum as released by MAGIX after MAGIX bought the Vegas line of products from Sony. Build 453 which I referred to above was the last build of Sony Movie Studio Platinum as released by Sony. What I hadn't realised was that MAGIX released a couple of updates to MSP13 (955 and 957) maintaining the same version number (13) that Sony had last released.

In any event, you have the last build of MVP13.

@Dexcon Build 453 which you referred to was the last build of Vegas Pro 13 as released by Sony/SCS (as you also probably meant to write 🙂.) MAGIX VP 13 rebrands were 543 and 545.

As you mention, there were MSP 13 builds/updates 955 and 957. I have a Sony MSP 13 build 955 still installed. According to a comment on the forum build 957 was a Vegas Movie Studio 13 Platinum - Steam Powered edition. The last build 987 was a rebranded MAGIX version (which was practically the same as 955 from Sony/SCS).
