Memory crash Sony VMS HD Platinum 10.0

I am using Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10.0 Build 179. While rendering AVCHD Video on my Dell Desktop, the program crashes, and I get an error message saying that the system is low on memory, and an error occurred. It states to close other programs. I have 8.0 Gigs of RAM on a Dell desktop, I have no other programs running, and I have never had this error message appear until recently. I have always rendered 1080p AVCHD video in this program with no issues, now it won't work. What gives? 8 Gigs of RAM has always been sufficient? Why now is it saying it is not?

Search low memory on this forum.

I looked up low memory on this forum. It was not helpful. 8 Gigs of RAM should not be in the Low Memory category. Vegas Movie Studio is now useless to me.

32 bit -vs- 64 bit
Quote: A 32 bit application installed to a 64 bit OS is running up against a built-in memory limitation, the same of which would be enforced by a 32 bit OS. Current and previous 32 bit versions of Microsoft Windows can only allocate a maximum of 2 GB of memory to each running process, regardless how much real or virtual memory is available on a particular machine.
VMSP 10 is 32-bit. Some of the threads from the low memory search have a workaround.
You could look up e.g. SCS KB articles # 1155, 4168, 4505. Enter the article # in Knowledgebase Search.

MSP 12 has 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

As an SCS person said in a Pro thread, this link has "a number of possible explanations" as well.
