Once the audio is on a track, right click on the audio event (i.e. the audio clip on the timeline), select "Channels", then select "Left only" or "Right only" -- whichever has your audio.

Keep in mind that this is selecting what input you want to use (left or right channel) from the file, and whatever you select will be sent to both output channels (i.e. both speakers). "Left only" and "Right only" options are kind of like treating your source file as a mono source instead of stereo.

If you have a lot of separate clips recorded this way, you probably have to do this for each clip on the timeline. I don't know if there is an easier way to do this more globally. I don't see it as an option that can be applied to the entire track.

If the OP has the basic version of Movie Studio 13, it may not have the "Channels" option, as he seems to have found out.
I don't have the basic version, but its Application Help has no mention about audio channels.
MS 13 Platinum has e.g. this:
"Audio Channels"

If you're still testing the trial, you'd do better getting the Platinum version.
