Missing Plug-ins/Layout won't reset (VegasPro13.0)

tori-o wrote on 11/17/2016, 11:51 AM

When I click on a clip and try to open up the Plug-in Chooser it comes up empty saying 'No Plug-Ins in chain' and I don't remember moving any folders so I don't know how this could have happened, I've tried everything and nothing seems to work. My second problem is that when I try to reset to default layout it will not reset properly, the little banner above the timeline and under the project media; (Project Media - Explorer - Transitions - Video FX - Media Generators) won't show up no matter what I do. If somebody knows what's up, PLEASE tell me how I can fix this is, I don't know what to do.

Thank You

I tried that but for some reason it didn't work. I don't know, could it be because I use windows parallel? I did try using different keys to try but that didn't work either...

Give us a screenshot of the window where you see "no plug-ins in chain".

And have you pressed View > Window Layouts > Default Layout?

Be sure you follow closely the advice in Reset software to default settings if you try it.

Yes I did try that It still didn't work for me and Now the problem has escalated further and now I can't even click the plug-ins chooser without it shutting down before I can get to it, but i mangaged to screenshot something close I think... But inside the box is all grey and instead of the box tiltled; 'Video Event FX' it suposed to say 'Plug-Ins chooser' and right underneath it in small letters it says 'No Plug-ins in Chain' ?

You mean View > Window Layouts > Default Layout does not work either? Try to get that right first.

That screenshot seems to be Pan/Crop window. The video events on the timeline have two buttons, Event Pan/Crop and Event FX. Did you try the latter?

Have you gone through any Interactive Tutorials? Click the "pointing finger" button on the Toolbar and choose "How to Add Video Effects" in the Editing Video and Still Effects section.

Yep view>window layouts>default layout doesn't work either and I did click Video FX initially and that is when 'No Plug-ins chain' comes up, it's just that now I can't click that button without Sony Vegas crashing on me before I can screenshot what I'm talking about. Now when I tried doing the tutorial I cant get past step one because it's asking me to drag the splitter and I don't know if i'm just not doing something right but i'm clicking and dragging all around that space and It's not moving on to step 2 and nothing's happening...?

Move the edit tool arrow slowly towards the thin line above the timeline until it turns into a double-headed arrow (splitter) and then drag.

But you really need to get the default layout OK first. If you don't get to that, you have to find a way to reset software (exactly as advised) to default/factory settings (as it was first installed). Maybe uninstall and reinstall ultimately as earlier suggested. I'm out of other ideas at the moment.

That didn't work either I'm sorry, now i'm out of ideas too haha. But okay I'll try a reinstall, but if that doesn't work I know someone I can take my laptop to to try and fix it. But Thank You so much for your help anyway
