Movie Studio 15 problem with Video Event fx patch

john-dawson5864 wrote on 4/16/2018, 2:49 PM

On Movie Studio 15 when I apply a "Video Event fx" to clips part of the image (a large rectangular patch on right hand side at midheight) is always left unchanged. MS 15 is therefore unusable! Applies to all fx types I have tried and all clips (generally avchd clips). Working on Win 10 PC 64 bit.

Repeat with same clips in Movie Studio 14 there is NO PROBLEM. I want a solution or my upgrade refunded.

Looks like the splitscreen view on top of the preview window is enabled.

Thanks Marco but this is not at all the problem. The preview can be seen both on my second screen and in the docked preview window on the main screen. The "unchanged" patch appears on both previews. And, as I said, repeating exactly the same set-up and clips in Movie Studio 14 there is no problem patch. This looks like a software bug to me.

A pity, as I love Movie Studio.

Could you show a screenshot of your Movie Studio GUI when this happens?

Did you try the splitscreen button? A second screen will show the same thing as your main screen.

Please see screenshot as suggested. I have applied a "brightness & contrast" fx to this clip. Note that a patch on RHS midheight of video preview has not been changed. Same fault with all fx types tried. No problems with Movie Studio 14, so I don't think this is a problem with my

computer or win10. Same result for all windows/screen options e.g. second screen, split screen, window or full screen. Very strange!

Click on the split screen button right above the window and all your worries will be over.😊

It is to the left of option BEST Auto

Thankyou thankyou.! Problem solved. 8 years using MS and never have I noticed this. There is no reference I can find to this button or split screen in the help menu. What is it for? Maybe to compare before and after applying the effect?

@john-dawson5864 Download the Vegas Pro 15 manual to get the documentation on "Split Screen View". Search Split-screen previews there. As this button was added to VMSP only as of v14, maybe they just forgot to add that chapter to online Help/ Manual.

Yes...missing in the documentation. I will add a bug about that. Thanks.
