Have you tried updating DirectX?

In fact, it might not hurt to go to Windows Update manually and get all of those updates that don't install automatically. They can include a number of drivers as well as DirectX support.

Yeah I checked my drivers and windows update(the only thing is Bing Desktop which I uninstalled after installing.

I looked and DirectX is updated but if you have a link I'll double check.

"You have a non-compliant DirectX plugin somewhere on your system.
The way to isolate the culprit is to rename the .dll files one-by-one until you find it.
Sorry, this is not Vegas' fault."

How can I do this?

Sony said to do this

https://www.custcenter.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1101/kw/program%20won%27t%20start

but it didn't work either.

Any Ideas people? also can someone further clarity this "You have a non-compliant DirectX plugin somewhere on your system.

How can I do this?

Sony Replied again telling me to do the following;

Verify that the latest version of DirectX is installed on your system. To do so, go into the Start menu, select Run and type DXDIAG in the field provided. Then press OK and the version should be listed towards the bottom of the System tab. You can find the most up to date version of DirectX to download at www.microsoft.com."

Still didn't work.

Look first at other programs you have installed. Find the DirectX plugins for those programs (who knows where) and selectively rename the extensions from *.dll to *.dllOLD or something like that. There are abundant directions on the internet showing how to rename file extensions for various Windows versions (all different).

There are many people writing plugins out there; not all of them know what they are doing or follow the rules. Yes, a rogue plugin from another software or effects library can stop Vegas in its tracks.

Sorry I can't be of more specific help because I don't know what softwares you may have installed on your machine and then forgotten about. Other audio editors and third party effects are a good place to start looking.

Here is a video of the things in my uninstall program, Would any games in steam do it? I downloaded a mod for Dark Souls which had .dll I think.

let it process then look.

Can anyone answer the question? or help more? :)
musicvid10 wrote on 9/23/2012, 5:37 PM
Yes, best advice is install your Sony products on a fresh OS, not on a gaming machine. You've undoubtedly got hundreds of third party DirectX .dlls installed, and tracking down the culprit(s) could take forever +.

dxdiag is built in to your Windows system. It "may" give you some clues, or it may not.

Yeah I bought Sony Vegas for Video Editing for my gaming videos. I'll get to work trying to see what doesn't go with Vegas. Thanks.

I see people saying that Newblue causes vegas to mess up, I have it but I didn't install it yet should I not?

When I open DXDIAG it tells me DirectShow didn't work last time I opened it (every time I open it) could that be the one causing problems?
Jerry Kirkpatrick wrote on 9/26/2012, 7:18 AM
Can anyone tell me if DirectShow is the problem or not?

I downloaded the Trial for Version 12 of the Movie Studio HD and it had the same thing so I don't think its this one program. Also Audio Sound Forge is stuck on the splash art.
D7K wrote on 10/8/2012, 11:38 AM
What is your system?

I'd suggest a complete reinstall (windows included), then start with movie studio. You certainly know what the problem is as when you add something that breaks it.

Also without knowing your system we can't really help.

Could be. What version did it say you have? 9.0c?

Short of reinstalling Windows, you can try reinstalling it:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=35

Or at least run the Troubleshooter in dxdiag > More Help tab

Hey man(or woman) I just checked here and I have DirectX version 11
and when it loads it tells me DirectShow has problems, asking me to bypass it.

Once I can back up my files I am going to try adn system restore the PC to default and see if that helps and I'll make sure directX is updated before installing then I will install that and if it works I'll install my games/programs one by one.

Any other Ideas first?

My system is an Alienware PC.
Windows 7 64bit
i7 Processor 2600K 3@40GhZ normal.
6950HD Radeon ATI GPU
2TB HDD
12GB RAM

I'll be system restoring my pc to see if that works I'll keep you updated
musicvid10 wrote on 10/17/2012, 11:14 PM
If DirectShow is borked because rogue system codecs have been installed, it's unlikely that System Restore is going to do anything about it.

As has been suggested more than once, do a fresh install from the OS up on a virgin machine that will never be used for gaming. That's your fix.
Jerry Kirkpatrick wrote on 10/18/2012, 8:40 PM
Ok well after a whole day of messing around with the computer I installed a fresh reinstall of Windows 7, the programs work for now, only 1 of my games is installed, but they work so I'll save the PC here and install them 1 by one and I'll let you guys know.

PS: I did happen to lose my Microsoft Office though lol.
