Movie Studio Suite 13

prettydecentcreations wrote on 2/21/2015, 2:39 PM
Hello,

I recently bought the latest movie studio suite that comes with the movie studio platinum and acid and other stuff... anyway, in the description it clearly says that it includes 1001 free sound effects and 50 production music tracks. Problem is I can't seem to find them. Are they included in the download and installation of the product? When I go to the Sony site and browse sound effects for example, the option for 1001 sound effects comes up but it wants to charge me money for it.

Am I not understanding it right? Is there another step or someplace I'm not looking?

Any help would be awesome.
Thanks
Carl

If you bought the download, your SCS order confirmation email should have the link to Your Donloadable Software.
Check also your My Account > My Orders > View Order.

I bought a physical copy. I actually just found it to after reading online that others couldn't find it either and it was in the install disc that you have to find manually and put it on the computer. I think they should make it more obvious that you need to do it that way, I was starting to lose my mind!

Thanks for the reply

To attract novices, v13 has a "Easy Mode" ( although you have to unlearn it [my words], to use the whole program! ),
.... it would be kind of Sony to include a "Start Here" intro that shows you how to make the installation... i.e. prior to beginning the install.
+It might also allow you to check the Hardware+/OS and that your mouse-touchscreen is compatible, etc. By checking their "Country" the Guide might suggest settings for the Rendering Process, too.

Life's difficult enough without omitting a little assistance
- Regular users can skip it, but I'd like to know how one should organise Video-files from the camcorder, as I guess nearly everyone does it differently - there may be a "Best-Way" - but I don't know it.

Such attention to detail would mke it much easier for those unfamiliar with Sony Movie Studio to utilise its great power.

I never found SFX - (v12.PS) - though I discovered the Music wasn't quite up to the numbers I gor with v10.PS.

Yet I've discovered that I bought (Boxed) Production Suite but never got it; instead I find I have "Platinum Suite" which seems to be a cut-down version of the Production Suite that I've never heard of..... Maybe the teenagers in Marketing think it's clever to confuse the Market, but I'm livid - I suspect my supplier didn't notice the difference, as it's just a few letters on what is otherwise a very fussy box, The contents are written in writing that a 10x magnifier has difficulty with.

+Oh deary, - So I never got the SFX and NewBlue Titler, which I'd paid for.

However, prettydecentcreations might look at the Sony Budget SFX disc, that can be found with difficulty among a huge number of Chop-Shop creations . . . these are suitable for Pro use and come to a large Cash investment, when in reality you need only one, or two per movie. THe Budget disc has a few examples of many popular sounds and I might buy one - but I can make many myself, using a Recorder.

Good Luck,- SMS is a great Video-Editor.

@UKharrie

Actually there never was a Movie Studio (Platinum) Production 12 Suite, only Movie Studio Platinum 12 Suite and later a stripped-down 1-disc OEM version of MSPS 12.
In v12 SCS dropped "Vegas" and "HD" out of the title of the core program, and "Production" was also dropped from the Suite version.
See here what was in the original 2-disc release of MSPS 12.

The Platinum version 12 suite OEM version?? no extras? thread may or may not explain your dilemma.

And I believe that there's a Read Me file with installation instructions included.

Thanks vkmast, it may be I'm losing it, but I'm sure boxed-version isn't OEM-

+I see now the Platimum Suite is almost half the price of Production suite ( reading SMS v13 prices)
Anyway I have a boxed Platimum Suite ( Oh and while yr explanation I'm sure is 100% accurate, it just shows how twisted these different Offerings have become. Platimum is a very expensive metal, usually above Gold, but as there are no "Silver/Gold" versions what is Sony thinking? A cause of great confusion that's unnecessary agro.
Inside my Platinum Suite Box:
I have two discs: "Application Disc"
-and- "Bonus Disc"
It seems that the NewBlue should be included there, so may try it . . . but here there are "Issues" - I've read in this Forum, that some SMS Builds ( Mine's 895), do not like NewBlue, so with my v12 working happily, I'm distinctly uneasy about installing a plug-in, even if I knew how to, since SMS Installation was two years ago nearly.

I know Sony dropped the Vegas tag from Movie Studio ( despite their similarities and opportunity of "Progression" - yet on the Forum it still lists as Vegas----"
=Left and Right hands, and so on....=
BTW
Thanks for yr suggestion, I did read some interesting replies...

Once again, there was not any Production 12 Suite (or 13), so I don't see how you can compare prices.
If you have the 2-disc version, look again for the extras. Open disc, not setup.exe.
AFAIK the linked thread is correct.

Yes you're right again, it's just that my box for v12 is clearly "Platinum Suite" - which appears to be somewhere in-between the current v13 offerings.( on this SonyCreative website, for example), although the version are still not clear without the whole range for comparison.
Er, IMHO.

If I go to the SMS v13 Platinum version "Comparisons" shows me there are very few differences between the this and the v13 Suite.....however, if you go to the Suite, it tells you you're now getting Acid Music in the Suite - so why isn't that mentioned in the Comparison, since losing a whole Software Title is worthy of note,
Er, IMHO.

Am I easily confused, - or what?

@UKharrie
You got SCS there. These oversights do happen and have happened before. Very worthwhile to double-check what you're getting before you purchase to minimize confusion.
You'll be glad to know that the Movie Studio 13 Suite product overview page is correct and Acid Music Studio 10 is currently included. The Acid MS 10 overview page mentions this as well.

>>>my box for v12 is clearly "Platinum Suite" - which appears to be somewhere in-between the current v13 offerings<<<
As features go, there are basically three levels, the lowest is Movie Studio, in the middle is MS Platinum and the highest is MSPlatinum Suite (in 12), and MS Suite (in 13, which is actually MSPlatinum 13 with extras). The Suite extras depend on the version. That's all there is to it.
I don't see the Imagination Studio package offered by SCS any more and Acid Studio from that package is indeed now in MSSuite 13.
