My computer deletes my sony vegas projects if I don't work on them.

Basically; if I don't work on my sony vegas projects for any amount of time, or don't add any major changes then the entire project (maybe after a few days) just is completely deleted from my computer, none of the files I put in there are gone, just the entire project file that houses those media files. I am getting frustrated as I use it to make videos and I can't work on two projects at once or both could be lost, I have confirmed it is just my computer, any thoughts or answers are needed like now.

The version name and number of your Sony Vegas (which is not later than v.13)? Or maybe a VEGAS version (v.14 or later)? Your files should not be "gone" unless you delete them somehow,

Note also this thread.

@z01nk Also where on your hard drive are you saving your project files?

z01nk wrote on 8/18/2020, 1:59 PM

@EricLNZ A file on my computer of course named Sony Movie Studio Platinum 13 Projects.

@vkmast I use version 13 of Sony Movie Studio Platinum, and also I am 100% sure that I do not delete any media files, it is only the project file that gets deleted, none of the media files are ever deleted, and I would know if my media files caused my project to be lost.

I assume you have already tried to "Search" the .vf (project) files on your drive(s) to confirm they are really "lost".

z01nk wrote on 8/18/2020, 2:45 PM

@vkmast Yes, I will say once again no files of mine are lost, it is only just the project file, and I have confirmed for myself it is something with my computer, I think for me it might be outdated drivers but I am not extremely tech savvy and just need some other possible answers.

Does this happen also to the new .vf project files that you create?

z01nk wrote on 8/18/2020, 5:07 PM

@vkmast 8/18 2 / It CAN happen to every project file I make, I have to either stop working on it or make no major changes with any media files for a few days just for it to be completely deleted, as I don't always have time to work on them.

Is the folder "Sony Movie Studio Platinum 13 Projects" that contains your 'vf' files situated in your User Documents folder? It usually is.

Do you use a Registry Cleaner and which Security system (Virus checker) do you use? I wonder if either of these is removing your files.

A quick solution until you resolve the problem is to copy your vf files elsewhere, such as a thumbdrive. Then if they disappear from your pc you can copy them back.

You do mean a folder not a file?

z01nk wrote on 8/19/2020, 10:40 AM

@EricLNZ 8/19 /3 ( Mine isn't, it has always been in the documents tab along with some other folders; I do not use any registry cleaners and I use Norton Antivirus.

You might check this setting: "If you don't want Windows 10 delete files by itself, you can turn off Storage Sense in the ways below. Open the "Settings" app. Click the "System" category and then click "Storage". Move the "Storage Sense" switch to the off position to turn off the feature."

@vkmast 8/19 / 4 | Thank you, I will be doing some tests with this and see if it works by making a project file and wait a few days without working on it.
