Read the bit about "If it hangs on DirectX plug-ins" from here to see if it helps.

How were you planning to use the software after the trial? Sony Vegas isn't here any more to welcome you and didn't sell old versions anyway, neither does MAGIX. You need to purchase the license elsewhere.

Btw, I did read about users wanting a new design for Vegas, but I did not know they already got someone to work on that 😊.

Just to confirm for others who may be in the same predicament, you tried the following and it did not help?

"If it hangs on DirectX plug-ins, please try the following:
-Be sure to include a space between the last quote and the beginning of the command line argument.

1. Right-click on the launch icon.
2. Select Properties, then the Shortcut tab.
3. Add the following command outside of the quotes in the Target field:  /NODXGROVEL
4. Select 'Apply' and then 'OK'
"

If the restart don't fix it, try this:

  1. Go to "C:\Windows\System32"
  2. Move the file "vorbis.acm" to your desktop
  3. Start Vegas
  4. Move the file "vorbis.acm" back to "C:\Windows\System32"

2 GB RAM?
For Win 7 is 1 GB minimum, better 2 GB
required for Vegas 9 is 1 GB, better 4 GB (minimum!)
you are too low on memory

IDK about Newblue plugins..

Not your PC?
Sometimes the PlugIns can be the reason for this issue

The OP's trying to run trials, so maybe no NBs.

Another PC 😉
Seriously, even if it would start, you would have no fun to work with it.
