NB Titler Pro

Ninan wrote on 10/17/2012, 7:51 PM
Sorry for a few basic questions. I am new to Vegas Pro 12. Yesterday I upgraded from MSP 12 to VP 12. The application crashed several times, it seemed, whenever I was applying the NB Titler Pro. So I checked the forum and learned that the update from ...814 to ...815 should be a remedy. However, while updating, I probably checked too many components, and now it's a real mess. VP 12 crashes each time I apply the NB Titler Pro or any of the NB effects. I found out that they installed in two folders of program files, next to some older NB effects which I was using in the Studio applications (VMS 10 and 11; but I did uninstall NB Titler EX which I used in MSP 12). Right now I think I should start from the very beginning. Do I have to go through the older build, 814, to the newest one, 815, (that's the direction I received from SCS)? Which components should I pick (I don't remember the exact names, but for instance, among them there is one called Sony Vegas and another one of the name Sony Vegas 64-bit, next to New Blu Titler Pro and New Blu Titler Pro - Open FX, there is in my VP12 a folder called New Blu Titler Pro for Windows; likewise in Video FX and Transitions)? Once again I'd like to apologize for raising such trivial problems, but hope somebod could help.

Ninan, you can get much better help by going to newbluefx.com and starting a help ticket there.

If you had TitlerEx that comes with SMS12 installed, that needs to be uninstalled. At this time I would also uninstall everything related to Titler (Pro or Ex) and then reinstall only Titler Pro ...815. When installing, choose "Sony Vegas Pro OpenFX 64bit" as the target application.

If you still have issues at that time, please open a help ticket at NewBlueFX. At that time we will start by looking at your video card and video card driver and the proceed farther from there.

MSP 12???? I thought MSP died at version 8?

Arthur,
Movie Studio Platinum 12 is taking over the MSP12 moniker now since Sony dropped the "Vegas" from the consumer version title and we can't call it VMS(P) any more :)

Thanks Jetdv, I have already done this, i.e. opened a Help ticket with NewBluFX and am waiting for the advice. But it seems that you've (almost?) exhausted the issue, though any new suggestions will be welcomed.

I bought VegasPro12 today, and the Sony Shop kindly offered me download links for VegasPro12 and DVDArchitectPro5.2, but nowhere for New Blue Titler Pro.

How do we get New Blue Titler Pro for VP12?

[ If anyone from Sony is reading this, maybe you can fix your website to make the above a little easier for the Customer ]

Did they send a serial number? It should have been in the same email that contained the Serials or VP and DVDA. And there should be a link there, too.

Ah yes, an email came and does contain the necessary link for NB Titler download....

I also purchased 12 PRO today and recieved an email with a serial # and download for titler pro 2 and also for what I think is titler pro 1. If it is do I have to install 1 before I install 2 or is it just there in case I can't get 2 working.

Also where do you find the free New blur FX that you get when you buy NB titler 2
I installed them but cannot find what they are called or where they are in the FX section.

The current version of Titler Pro will work in Vegas Pro 12:

You need to choose "Sony Vegas Pro OpenFX 64-bit" during installation for Vegas Pro 12.

Due to frequent crashes over the last two days I uninstalled NB TP, rebooted and then re-installed and now I can't activate it.

I have registered at NBFX and opened a ticket but I see it has been set to low priority.

Does anyone have any idea what the wait time is to get tickets looked at and replied to?

Cheers.

Further reading on this forum seems to indicate I should have installed the OpenFX version rather than the other Vegas 64 bit one as that requires a different retail Serial number.

I'll uninstall and re-install the OpenFX version.

My bad as I assumed the OpenFX version meant it was a free cut-down version rather than the full version the serial number given by Sony would activate.

Quick update...

Re-installed the OpenFX version. Found the the Activation Manager and attempted to activate with the serial number from Sony again - no luck.

Opened V12 and put a Titler Pro Event on the time line and selected Help>Activate and it activated without having to enter the serial number. Is this expected having been installed and activated previously on this PC?

One thing I've noticed about NewBlue products and Vegas Pro 12. They will generally have more than one option checked when you go to install them.

As JetDV has suggested just make sure you install the OFX 64-bit version for Vegas Pro 12.

For me, I ONLY allow installation of the OFX 64-bit versions of all their software. This means I must uncheck some otherwise checked options upon install.

One of the things this will do is give the NewBue effects and transitions the same conventional interface as the rest of the program in Vegas Pro 12. Otherwise, if you allow other install options you will get NewBlues interface for the effects and transitions, which looks cool, but IMO adds unnecessary clutter to Vegas.

Also, the plugins seem to go where they're suppose to, and I haven't had crashing issues like I might have otherwise. Actually, it runs pretty good. YMMV of course...

Maverick, when you're using the OpenFX version of Titler Pro, you do not need to go to the "activation" program in order to use it in Vegas Pro 12.

Thanks jetdv.

But, possibly a silly question, why are we issued with a serial number if we do not need to activate or was the serial number stored somewhere in the registry when previously installed and taken from that?
jetdv wrote on 10/25/2012, 12:22 PM
The serial number is used when installing the "ForVegas" version. It just happens that the "ForWindows" version can be used to update the "ForVegas" version.
