Need help with Image Sequence render

boban-n wrote on 1/26/2019, 9:48 PM

By default when i render image sequence, the name is Test_000000.jpg , Test_000001.jpg , Test_000002.jpg etc.
I want to render them as Test.000000.jpg , Test.000001.jpg, Test.000002.jpg etc.
The reason why I need them to be with a dot instead of underscore is because I am using Autodesk Maya for 3D Animation, and it only recognizes image sequence with a dot. Is there a way to change the render name from image_####.jpg to image.####.jpg
Thank you in advance! :)

I can't see a way to do this in Vegas.

Renaming the files in a batch seems possible. Windows Explorer can do it but the file names will come out something like this: Untitled.000001 (1).jpeg .. which would be followed by Untitled.000001 (2).jpeg

Open File Explorer
Browse to the folder that includes all the files you want to rename.
Select all the files. ...
Press the F2 key to rename it.
Type a new name for the file and press Enter.

THere must be some file naming software to handle this better. Or some Powershell script in DOS to do "find and replace" on the file names.

Adobe bridge (free download) can do batch rename very efficiently.

Thank you for the responses! I tried to download Adobe Bridge but i had to sign up in order to download it so I found a small sized software called Bulk Rename Utility and I renamed them by simply replacing the " _ " with a " . " . I hope Sony VEGAS implements this feature in the next version/update. Adobe Premiere Pro and other video editing softwares already have this feature, it would be really good for sony vegas to have it too.

@boban-n, please note that MAGIX is the owner and developer of the product since 2016, so Sony is not involved. More here.
