Need To Retrieve Audio From Crashed Project

Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11.0

I am using a Toshiba computer with 4GB RAM with Windows 10 software.

I have a project that I have been working on for quite a while and today I added some more video clips and photos to the media folders. After I did that it crashed and now refuses to let me open the project. I don't care about the video clips and pictures but I desperately need my audio. I worked for months on that audio and some of the clips involved with it I cannot get back. It is very, very dear to me and irreplacable.

Is there ANY way I can get the project to open just for a few minutes so I can render the audio? If I were to uninstall the program and reinstall it would it allow me to open the project, or would the project be lost all together? I've deleted all other projects in my Sony Vegas folders to hopefully help make room for this one if necessary.

I am try everything possible to get this audio back. Like I said, it is very dear to me and I have no way to replicate or replace it.

Thank you in advance.

Are there any .vf.bak besides the .vf project file ?

(Vegas Pro has .veg.bak backup file besides the .Veg project file) - try open this.

In the future, have multiple project save - for safety...: do save & save-as your project - and make several steps for backup too.

*Thanks vkmast for correction

Note that Sony Movie Studio project files have .vf extension. Don't know if MAGIX changed this.

Set - Thank you so much for recommending I open the vf.bak file! That worked and I immediately saved my audio that I thought I had lost. Thank you, thank you both so very, very much!
