Go to your Magix account and deactivate there the version on that old computer.
After that is has to be possible to activate it on the new one.

Please note also this from the main FAQ: "How many computers can I use VEGAS Pro on?
You can use VEGAS Pro (14.0 and later) simultaneously on 2 devices. There are 2 ways to deactivate a device so you can activate a different one:

Visit your MAGIX account > My Products > Show More Details > Deactivate. This option can be used only once a month.

From the VEGAS Pro Help menu choose Deactivate the Software on this PC. This option can be used as often as you wish. An internet connection is required."

Thank you. My problem is that I have only installed the program on one computer so I should be able to install it on a second - which gives the option of using it on the original computer should it be reparable. Thank you again

Have you checked that there isn't a "double activation" on your account for your previous device? That has sometimes happened and if so, deactivate one of them.

Maybe an old second one you are not aware of?
Look into your account what is stated there.

@j-v at least we as users were "doubly activated" 😁

I am in a similar situation. It would help to know there won't be any issues activating it on my new computer when it arrives. Curious to know how Sue-Cramp solved the issue.

I didn't want to deactivate the software on my original computer, as I might want to use it again when it is repaired, so I contacted Magix support and within a day or two they very helpfully sent me new activation codes and download links for all the software I have purchased from them. Everything is now working well.
