If you open VEGAS and there's an update link no reason to wait to update (though I find the direct download link here more reliable).

I never have issues the last few updates with the update link, probably because I am an early bird on the European continent and have close to 1 Gbps available download speed.

By chance, second time in a row to be the first one to report a new Vegas build!

Sad that more has not been done on the smart mask, I hoped that they would produce something that was useable, but no. What they have got is rubbish, it's not worth using for anything!!!

It's basically an alpha feature so I don't see the use in complaining about it. If it saves time making a bezier mask it's better than not having it at all.

Getting the Splash screen when I click the start icon for 402, but then the program just vanishes and nothing happens. No process to kill in task manager. I wonder if they were trying to fix the "Vegas Won't Start" issue ?

Restarting my machine doesn't help. Looks like I'm reverting...

I'm getting that too - and its only just started. Vegas Pro 20 opened without a problem about an hour ago but now - Splash screen and then nothing. I've tried rebooting the computer and setting back to default/factory settings but without success.

And its the same with Vegas Pro 19.

I notice that KB4023057 Windows update has been installed - I wonder if this is the cause.

Hi; I doubt it's KB4023057 because my Vegas 20 prior was launching and working fine immediately before installing 402 and now won't launch, that being the only change.

I didn't try loading Vegas 19 (seems I left it uninstalled somehow), but Vegas Pro 18 does launch.

Same here, Vegas 19 wouldn't open, so I closed Vegas 20 to see if it as the same, little blue loading screen shows for a bit then goes away & no Vegas loads 😒🤔

Edit - restarting Modem allowed Vegas to load while it was off rebooting, now the internet is back on I closed Vegas & it won't open again, so to open Vegas I have to turn off the internet!

Opening Vegas was working just fine after the introduction of 402 (5/2/2023), but something got broken some time (or days) after that. Could be windows update, Vegas servers, Microsoft servers etc... Anyhow they are looking into it, and a temporary workaround has been found (disconnecting internet before Vegas launch or setting the date back to 2022) - see the many recent posts about the issue

The updates history shows, that the Update for Windows 11 version 22H2 for x24 based systems (KB4023057) has been installed yesterday (3.5.2023). I assume that this causes the problem.

For me it was necessary to turn of my Wifi on my laptop, then Vegas starts.

Yes, that was my thought at first, but the failure to open also started today on my laptop and that KB update was installed on the laptop back on 27 January this year. As I mentioned earlier on one of the other gzillion related threads, my suspicion is that MAGIX's mainframe has chucked a wobbly with its activation/phone home process.

Thanks for the info, and, yes, did also see the workaround, which did work for me (though saw at least one other for whom it did not).

Also FYI to anyone/everyone, I received the fix from support directly, I'm sure it's same as linked above, and just so it's known, yes, it worked for me, and now Vegas 20 release 3/build 402 at least launches and has the appearance of functionality. :) Kudos to the Magix/Vegas folks for the prompt fix. Thanks to everyone here for the positive exchanges of info.

Since installing Build 403, the last project opened does not automatically load upon start up any more. I checked Preferences and it is check marked.

I know this is a minor thing at the moment, but when things settle down, I certainly would like to have this back.

@Reyfox Indeed, last project opened does not load anymore on start - However, if you disable the new welcome screen (left down corner, or via the preferences), then the last project does load on startup!
