@Tom
A long NLE product list was presented. The link I provided was given to Avid users and included a Token to get the product for free.
The invoice was for around £87 UK reduced to zero through the token. Sony download file is named differently.
The link was pulled from a forum but a google search showed it was still there. I have an Avid licence but the product only runs on XP hence my use of VP & Edius on W7.
I have 2x W7 systems on my main pc. I'll test tomorrow.
I have followed diverG's URL, filled in the redemption code provided there and the NB FX form, got the serial number, downloaded, installed and activated the Essentials, They work fine (the only problem involved my AVAST that would not let me activate the application, so I had to temporarily disactivate AVAST)
When I followd the link the serial number was on the "invoice" - a web page that popped up after i completed the order - ie it was immediately produced. I received the email within 10 minutes.
VP11: Seems to crash on exiting programme. As I always manually save before quitting maybe this is OK plus VP11 not really required now.
VP12: Seems OK and stable
The same effects are presented differently in Edius and more user friendly. Again no crashes
Big thank you to NewBlue

I downloaded the installation package after following the process to "check out" with the included coupon making the final cost zero. But, after thinking about, it appears that the free download is really meant as a special offer for Avid licensees only -- not for just anyone that happens to find the offer page.
And although I have been sent a serial number, I don't think I'm going to install it or use it (unless someone from Newblue chimes in and says it's okay)
Should you choose to load the programme you will be offered a tick box choice menu of many popular NLE's. Just tick Vegas. The programme will load and link to NB Titler etc.
Once loaded open Vegas, drop a clip on the timeline and drop say 'Auto Contrast' onto the clip. You will now be asked to enter the serial number and activate.
If you wish to use the programme on a second machine you need to first deactivate the programme on the first machine. All obvious whilst activating in the first place. You only have ONE licence for one machine. Maybe a bought product you will allow two installations.
Remember you can always set a restore point prior to testing leaving you a fallback position.
In my case a have an Avid licence all be it for a discontinued XP product. Just a bonus that it installs on Vegas & Edius.
Not a big problem - but here I have had an epic stable Vegas 11 32 bit working for hours every day - even with Preview RAM set and GPU assist ON - but after I installed NewBlue Essentials III and tried all the really great new FX'es on a single media in an old project I had my first "Vegas Stopped Working" on exit for months.... just like DiverG mentions a few posts above ... ... maybe just a coincidence ??
I run two W7 OS systems on separate HDD’s selectable via bios at boot. I test on one system and if a programme is useful and stable it is transferred to the prime system. I also have images of both systems. VP11 eventually became stable but only after a decision had been taken to adopt Edius.
I treat NB product with caution but we all have differing experiences.
