No audio in rendered movie

Could the audio track be muted? It's the circle/slash icon in the audio track header on the left.

Open the resultant video with MediaInfo in text mode and post the results.

Thanks

It looks like the audio is there. For comparison, here is the audio section of a file I recently created (albeit with another program):

Audio

What are you rendering this for, an iPod? Have you tried it on the device to see if the audio is really there, just that you can't hear it on the PC?

My PC player of choice is VLC, you could try using that to see if that makes a difference.

Other than that, I'm not sure what's going on.
Asitis wrote on 2/2/2012, 7:28 AM
Thanks for that.

What am I rendering for? The settings are specially for uploading to YouTube. But I prefer to see it work before uploading.

You’re right - the audio is there in the analysis.

But still no sound, despite 2 other players including VLC - 5 in all.

Also tried playing on my iPod, but again no audio.

Even converted the MP4 to a WMV. Once again no audio.

Also no audio when played on a new laptop.

I get audio in Windows Media Player when I render as follows: -
Format: Sony AVC mp4
Template: AVCHD 1440x1080 PAL
Description: -
Audio: 192 Kbps, 48,000 Hz, Stereo, AC-3 Studio.
Video: 15.0 Mbps, 25.000 fps, 1440x1080 wide
Use this setting to create a 1440x1080 PAL AVCHD file.

Do you anyone who might solve the mystery of no audio when rendered for YouTube as: -

Format: Sony AVC mp4
Template: YouTube normal quality 25fps
Description: -
Audio: 128 Kbps, 48,000 Hz, Stereo, AAC.
Video: 768 Kbps, 25.000 fps, 320x240
Use this setting to create a normal quality file, suitable for uploading to YouTube.

Asitis,
which Vegas Movie Studio version AND build (numbers) are you using?
Chienworks wrote on 2/2/2012, 9:41 AM
I guess i have to ask the dumb question ... do you hear the audio when you preview in Vegas?

Even dumberer question ... do you hear the audio when you preview in Chicago? ;)
Markk655 wrote on 2/2/2012, 10:59 AM
You may want to upload a small portion that is rendered. Readers of the forum can check it out on their systems to see if it your system or the clip.

Most common cause of missing MP4 audio with VMS is the wrong version of Quicktime.
You need QT 7.6.2 or earlier to work with VMS 9 Platinum and earlier.
Asitis wrote on 2/2/2012, 11:28 PM
Thanks for responses.

Vkmast: 9.0b build 92.
Chienworks: audio heard in preview.
Musicvid: using QT7.7.1(1680.42)
Markk655: followed your advice and rendered short loop-region for others to check, but got audio. So tried full re-render for 3rd time - and got audio again.

Product now good.
But mystery remains.

Many thanks for your attention
Cheers from Australia

Did you have the track muted when you rendered? I wonder....
MSmart wrote on 2/3/2012, 9:03 AM
That q already asked.
Markk655 wrote on 2/3/2012, 12:10 PM
I see it now...
musicvid10 wrote on 2/3/2012, 12:32 PM

Vkmast: 9.0b build 92.

Read my post again, please.

I had the same issue-

Here's how I fixed it-

Go to OPTIONS/PREFERENCES/AUDIO DEVICE

Change to WIndows Classic Wave Mapper-- or another audio device than the one that didn't work

Make sure you check INCLUDE AUDIO in Custom Template before rendering (scroll down)

Also be sure Audio Level 1 is selected on the audio tab for custom settings.
