No Help in Build 256

Ninan wrote on 11/1/2011, 7:05 PM
I've skipped two earlier Builds, but decided to update from Build 220 to Build 256 . And like those who updated earlier, I don't have the contents of Help. From the earlier forum dispute on the issue I vaguely remember that the advice was to uninstall ... but what? The entire program? And install everything from the scratch? I'd appreciate some help.

Install the newer build over the old one as it will overwrite it. Now if you feel that there are problems with the old build then it is advisable to uninstall it. I just downloaded and installed mine (over the previous build) yesterday. There seems to be no changes since I can't find any info from the newer build, not even from the release note.

80sGuy,

Still not seeing the bug fixes in build 256 listed in your release notes on the download page?
If not, check again http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?Forum=12&MessageID=784662

I did as you suggested. Build 256 has overwritten Build 220 and the new version works ok. The only thing that is missing is the contents of the Help wizard. I do remember that the same happened to the update from 220 to 247. But i don't know how to recover it.

Uninstall and reinstall with the new build. That happened to me when I upgraded to 247. However my upgrade to 256 worked fine.

It happened to me too when updating from 220 to 256 last night, no Help. Uninstall/install fixed it.

Installed 11.0 build 256 over the old version (don't know the build # of the old), then Help did not work. Uninstalled and reinstalled 256, then Help worked. [Just wanted to post another example in case Sony wants to fix this re-installation problem.]

Same thing happened to me. I installed version 256 over 220 and lost the F1 Help Files. Had to uninstall 256 and then re-install it clean. The Help files now work.

Same thing happened to me. It turns out the 256 deletes the help file. BEFORE installing 256, save the file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Shared Plug-Ins\Help Files\VegasMovieStudio110.chm". Then after installing, copy that file back into that folder. You can watch that folder during the install and see 256 update the help file then delete it. I have a ticket in with Sony but no answer yet. Looks like a bug in the installer.

I was replacing Vegas 10. I uninstalled it.

Then I installed 11 Platinum: no help file.

Then I uninstalled 11 Platinum (build 256).

Reinstalled it: help works.

Go figure.
