No install Wizard on Vegas Movie Studio HD

Hi all,

I recently re-installed Windows 7 64bit on my new SSD.
I already had Vegas MSHD platinum 11 installed before and wanted to install it anew on my newly installed Windows 7.

The Program choice box comes up fine, but when I choose "Install Vegas Movie Studio" the install wizard does not come up.

All I get is the "Sony Creative Software" tool on my bar at the bottom (A) and a strange looking tab on the side (B) - nether of which will do anything.

To get rid of them I can't even close them, I have to shut them in Task Manager (even though they're listed as 'running').
Even once I do it still shows up in the processes and this won't "end process", I have to re-start the PC.

I've tried the disk on my GF's laptop (Also running Win7) and it works fine!
Does anyone know how to get this working?

I've e-mailed Sony about this twice. Over a month and no reply...

If you can help I'd be SO grateful!!

Cheers,
Howie.

Have you run the install as administrator? Try it, it might make a difference.

The admin idea is a good suggestion, go with that first. I have also seen (with other software) where if you copy the disc onto your hard drive and then install it from there, that also works. You can then delete the copy you made of the disc. The issue in that case could be the disc. Another option would be to doqwnload the trial version and install from that file. You can use the reg number that came with your disc with the appropriate trial version.

Thanks for replying :)

Yes, I have administrator rights by default. However I have just tried to force it to run as administrator but there was no change.

I find it very strange as I had it running fine before! Is there perhaps some issue of my having windows on an SSD?

It's not the disc or Win7 as I thought it might be as it ran fine on my GFs laptop.

Ah there's an idea. I shall try the trial version and see how that works. I'll come back afterwards.

Thanks for the help so far!

Shouldn't be an issue with Win on an SSD. People have been running their OS on SSDs for years already.

ok, I definitely have something wrong with either my settings or something.

I downloaded the trial version and, trying both regularly and specifically as administrator... same problem! :S

I really am lost now. Should I re-install Windows again? Don't really wan't to have to go through that though.

It was always my belief that the Studio version was for 32bit systems although I have read that some have had success with running it on a 64bit system. I wonder if that could be part of the problem?
The Pro version runs on 64bit yes?

I've certainly had no problems running VMS 10 on a 64 bit system.

...and VMS 11 (which still is a 32-bit program) runs even better on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 64-bit system, since the current builds can now address up to 4 GB of memory.

Indeed. It's 11 that I have and it was running great until I installed windows on my SSD... I'll play around a bit more and chase Sony again (again again again lol).

If the worse come to the worse I guess I'll just have to start all over with a clean OS install.
