To state the obvious, you won't see any files in the Project Media window, until you import something into the project. To import files while in the Project Media window, you need to press the Add Media button in top left corner. Then navigate to your files and select them. (I am assuming you already know this, but just in case you don't).
I have noticed over the years, that version 13 is very "wonky" and often the windows lock up and won't let you import anything. It just happened to me while I was answering your question.
I recommend you try the following: 1. Re-boot computer
3. If the above doesn't work, try running Movie Studio in Administrator Mode. This often fixes Windows permission problems that can block the ability to import files.
Close Movie Studio first! Right-click Movie Studio icon on your Windows desktop and select Run As Administrator. If you are selecting Movie Studio from inside the Windows 10 Start Menu, right-click icon, select More, then Run As Administrator.

You said it yourself, this was obvious. So clearly, that's not what I meant. When I go to add media, it does not show any of the files I have.
