Not Responding after adding Text

I've had this problem for a while now that no one seems to have solved yet.

Any time I add Text to my project, to add subtitles or song lyrics, the entire program stops responding and I have to close it.

Any way to fix this? Thank you.

This problem appears to be something related to some error reading the settings.

Have you ever tried a reset in Vegas?

Close Vegas. Hold the CNTR + SHIFT keys and click the Vegas icon twice. In the window that appears click yes. This will cause Vegas to get back to its original settings.
