Old computer died...Re-install problems with plug in product keys

Aaron-Lovejoy wrote on 7/2/2018, 7:32 PM

My old hard drive died. Now I have a new one and I was re-installing Movie Studio 15. Went into my account and deactivated my old computer. Everything was fine until the plugins started to install and they all say that the product key is being used by my old computer and I need to deactivate them before the key will work again. Only problem is, that computer no longer exists. . Is there another way to get the plug in keys working again? Thanks for any input! Also, do I need to re install Movie Studio 14 for 15 to work properly? Or is each program a stand alone program?

Each MS version is a stand alone programme.

As for the plugins they often cause more problems than they are worth. Which plugins are giving you problems?

If you have NewBlue plugins, see this https://newbluefx.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/206317205-I-am-trying-to-activate-my-product-but-I-am-getting-an-Activation-Limit-Exceeded-message-How-can-I-activate-my-product-

See if the other Third Party plugin producers have similar advice on their site, e.g. https://borisfx.com/support/license-instructions/rlm-license-instructions/

Thanks for the input guys, I really appreciate it! I was able to get all of the plugins working, almost had a heart attack but now all is good!

Aron - how did you get them going? Your solution may be useful to any other users who run into the same problem. Did you contact the plugin producers?

So the first time I tried installing my Movie Studio on my new computer I had not deactivated it in my Magix account. It installed because you can activate 2 computers but none of my activation keys worked for the plug ins. I uninstalled everything, went to my account on Magix and deactivated all computers on my account. (For some reason I have 2 accounts under different emails so I deactivated the computers for both accounts). I reinstalled all versions and plugins from each version of Movie Studio 13, 14, 15 and Vegas Pro 15. That way I had all plugins available to me again. I'm so glad that I made sure to save all the emails with download and product key info to a special folder. I can only guess that by deactivating the main program on my Magix account, that somehow freed up the other activation codes for the plugins as the all worked after doing that. You can install Movie Studio and Vegas Pro on two computers however it looks like the plugins only work on one computer. I did contact some of the plugin providers (still waiting to hear back from them so I'm glad I figured it out on my own).
