One video out of 3, enlarged for a portion in preview window

ChasMc wrote on 9/3/2024, 6:52 PM

I did a 3 camera (technically 2) video. The main two were the same Canon camcorder recording in 59.95p in MP4. When playing back a certain portion of one of the camcorders the video in the timeline is normal, but in the preview window it's magnified. If I click on the split screen in the preview window one side is the normal version and the other side is still magnified.

I thought I had remembered it originally being normal size.

This is with VEGAS Pro 22?

Is the magnified due to an event that has Fx applied to it, for example pan crop or crop or picture in picture? Bypassing Fx would bypass any of those Fx and show you the original. It could also be at the track level if each video is on a different track.

I checked that track and the only FX on any of sections was just brightness, color adjustments, no special FX on any of them. I was checking on the split screen view button. If I put it in the All selection the video looks normal in the preview window. Seems to just be affecting that one track.

Is that button supposed to be on and in the all position?

Please share a screenshot that includes the track Fx area on the left side.

In general you don't bypass preview Fx and when you do you do it all at once.

I can't seem to get my screenshot to be inserted here.

Try again in a few, sometimes the forum has an issue. It's the button with the arrow next to the smiley face.

Try editing the visible button set so track Fx are immediately visible.

Roger, not sure how to edit the visible button. What visible button are you referring to.

OK, I did make the Fx button visible . When I click on that Fx button for the track, it still just shows the window for Fx selections.

RogerS wrote on 9/5/2024, 5:16 PM

So it is not lit up indicating a track Fx is active and clicking on it shows no Fx selected, just the Fx chooser?

ChasMc wrote on 9/6/2024, 8:40 AM

Yes, that is correct. On the clips that are magnified (in the preview window), when I click on the split screen button, the video goes back to original size and without the Fx that was on that clip.

So while hard to exactly understand what's going on either there is a Fx applied at the event or media level that by design zooms in, or there is a bug with an Fx that inadvertently zooms in.

Can you help us figure out which it is by disabling the Fx one by one?

ChasMc wrote on 9/6/2024, 9:12 AM

I removed all of the selected Fx plugins down to just the pan & crop. In just the pan & crop window the video is normal, but still shows magnified in the preview window, unless I click on the split screen button.

Are you sure there are no Fx applied at the media level (right click in project media), or on the video output (above the preview window)?

If no, in a fresh project, can you add the same media and the same Fx and does it zoom or not?

There may well be a bug but I haven't been able to trigger it and it's not clear what it could be.

I copied the original project into a new project and it looks like it's working like it should there.
