Overlap time

An irritating, though minor problem: both in the Preferences and in the Slideshow Settings I have marked the overlap time as 1 sec. Yet in some of the projects, those that include slideshows and video clips, the overlap time becomes automatically 0.23. The procedure recommended under the Help (first by CTR+/ go to Cut, then by / return to Overlap) does not help. The overlap goes back to 0.23. Can anyone help? Thanks

How are you creating these overlaps? And are you working with video or still photos?

Maybe something to do with Ruler Format (see Help)? Right-click the track header (time ruler on the timeline) and see?

(These are rather long mixed mixed projects, stills in slidehows and videos. Overlaps are meant to be introduced automatically.)
