Painfully Slow High Definition Rendering..

jawad-d wrote on 11/19/2020, 2:39 PM

Hello everyone

I saw this video on how to encode my videos in 1080p using Vegas Pro. I have saved the template according to the settings given in this video. But whenever I try to encode a video, each 1 minute takes one hour to encode. So if I have to encode a 5 minute long video, it takes me 5 hours.

I am using Vegas Pro 14.

Attached are my system specification. Pease advise if it's my system or the procedure given in the video:

Thank you!

It would be better to follow renderinstructions and tutorials of a newer version with other and newer and faster renderoptions than the old Mainconcept of VP 12.

I am using Pro 14.

In Options / Preferences / Video check to see if you have a GPU available to help your render speed.

With your system, renders are still likely to be painfully slow.

It's available and the same selection as in your picture is made.

So, basically, I need a faster system?

If you're using Vegas 14 with an amd card, first make sure "Allow legacy GPU rendering" is checked off in Preferences, General. Then you should be able to render more quickly using Sony AVC rather than Mainconcept if you choose Internet 1920x1080-30p and then go into "customize template" and change the encode mode to "use GPU if available". If that doesn't speed things up allot, Vegas probably does not like your video board. In which case you can try the XDCAM EX 60i template which is moderately quick without a gpu, customizing the template to change the field order to "progressive"... just make sure you can view the output.

A PhD. in navel exploration?

With minor studies in lint, must one presume?

Thank you, sir. I will try it today. Although I am a novice and will require time to process that master level information. But I thank you nevertheless. You have been very kind.

Newer versions of VEGAS Pro make much better use of GPU acceleration and can render many, many times faster as a result by using presets marked by NVENC - For Nvidia Cards. VCE for AMD cards, or quicksync for Intel graphics. Be sure to read the minimum system requirements before upgrading, however, and download the demo to make sure it works well on your system first.

Thank you for pitching in.I will also look into it.

You don't have any sort of hardware encoding on your computer, you wouldn't benefit, you're using a very slow AMD cpu with incorporated gpu back in the day when Ryzen made bad cpu's. You would benefit greatly from a new computer

Thank you for your input, sir. I am considering upgrading my hardware.

Just for information, what the current Vegas Pro would require as a minimum:

Oh, wow.

Yes, video editing is a challenging job for PCs 😏

I have tried both options.

The first one helped me render the video in an hour. Which was a breezes compared to 3.5 hours.

The XDCAM option helped me render in 28 minutes! Which is like impossible given my previous experience and experiments!

The only thing I need to ask you is: how much will the video quality suffer in your opinion if - when I was Customizing Template there was a checkbox that said, "Prioritize Quality Over Speed."- I uncheck the box and go for speed instead.

Meanwhile, than you for your kind and generous help. You are my hero!

@jawad-d

It's best to try it yourself with a short test project of 1-2 minutes and see if you are satisfied with the quality. Nobody here can make this decision for you.

Makes sense. Thank you.
