I have VMSP 11 installed and working A-OK on my WIn7-64 system. I downloaded the VMSP 12 64-bit installer and installed it with no trouble (trial version). When I try to start it I get the infamous "Movie Studio Platinum has stopped working" message immediately. Below is the detail info the error dialog provides:

Problem Description
Application Name: Movie Studio Platinum

My system is WIn7-64 SP1 with all updates applied, nVidia 9600GT graphics card, no ant-virus stuff or other strange things running. I verified that my VMSP 11 still runs fine.

What to do....what to do......

PS: is there an update for DVD Architect or should I just use the current version I have?

Birk,
did you install the VMSP 12 32-bit and if you did, were you able to start it?
See this thread regarding VPro 11 and try the workarounds mentioned there just to see if they're any help in VMSP12. Seems a new update/build is already overdue?=(

The download page shows that DVDA Studio 10 build 161 is the latest, no release notes though so far. I haven't updated since DVDAS 10 build 128.

I think you mean DVDA Studio 5. Although build 161 is listed, the release notes refer to build 157.

TOG,
you're right of course. Should have said DVDAS 5.0..

No. I installed the 64-bit version of VMS12.

The first thread you mentioned suggests changing FileIOSurrogate.exe to XP mode. This seems like an oxymoron for a 64-bit app. Plus it's hard to imagine Sony would release a product with this kind of error in it.

The second reference talks about ensuring all device drivers are updated, and I think mine are, but since VMS12 won;t even start this seems like a moot point.

My DVDAS is Build 156 so I guess there isn't much change there.

I got a very prompt reply from the Sony support people that said I should update Quicktime. I did and this fixed my problem. The version of QT this I have now is 7.72.80.56 so if your's is earlier than that you might want to update.
