poor quality text

My son is trying to do a DVD with menus from a recipe book for a charity, is there anything that can be done in the program that gets clear text, when rendered it is blurred.

The video, also tried in Pinnacle studio 15 is the same, on DVD, he is trying to get a DVD done with menus that start when you put the dvd in the player so people can chose what to look at.

I'm sorry, that doesn't look like text, it looks like a scanned image. So your image properties and what you are doing with it on the timeline and render are what counts. Some details would help.
