Pro 20 Serial number problem

I downloaded Pro 20 on Dec. 2 – and I can’t open it, as it won’t accept my current (Pro 17) number.  Researching the Forum, it looks like I need a new serial number for the trial download -- and that Magix should have e-mailed it to me.  Is this right?  I contacted Magix on the 2nd, and hopefully will hear from them.

Reason for the upgrade:  I e-mailed Magix on Nov. 21 regarding a big crashing problem with my Pro 17 (crashing 10+ times a day, sometimes as often as every two minutes) and I asked if getting Pro 20 would be the best way to stop the crashing (the upgrade was on sale) -- otherwise I don't need/want Pro 20.  Magix responded 3 weeks later -- on Dec. 2 --  saying the best solution would be to try the trial version of Pro 20. So I downloaded Pro 20 immediately – but I can’t open it.

The irritating part of Magix’ delay in responding to my request is that, if I finally can open Pro 20 and it works, the sale for the Pro 20 upgrade ended on the 4th.

Any ideas on the serial number problem (and the crashing problem?)

I tried the trial first myself and received a serial number. Have you logged into your Magix account and see if the number is there?

Thanks for your response. My Magix account lists all of my previous Pro versions' serial numbers (and even the numbers for past trial versions) -- but no reference (and no number) to my Pro 20 trial download. And no response yet from Magix.

I have several G Mail accounts I use for work. Create one. Download another trial (you have looked in you Spam folder, yes??) and see what happens.

If you decide to buy, you can use your old account.

Thanks for your help. I removed Pro 20 from my system, went to my second gmail account, and downloaded and installed again. Same results - automatic notice on the serial number page that the serial number has been sent to me, and no reference to the trial download in my Magix account. Also, nothing in spam (I always check). Is there no other way to communicate with Magix? After every request to them, I get the automatic e-mail saying they'll respond in no more than four days. I'm stuck -- no way to see if Pro 20 will help with the crashing -- and more than 40 crashes yesterday, some as little as 5 seconds apart. (I certainly don't want to be forced to pay $200 for the Pro 20 upgrade if it won't help -- I don't need/want any of the improvements from Pro 19.) Thanks again for anything you might suggest!

@Douglass-Ray, I have a friend who is using a laptop with the same spec CPU and a 1050 I think GPU. And he told me he is editing wonderfully with VP20. But he is also known for wiping the drive clean and installing an image of the OS.

Installing things and uninstall things it leaves crap on your HD

If Iook on my C ssd partition of 250 gb after a clean install of everything , i have around 115gb left on my hd

I do all my rendering and savings on my D and E disc but after a few months my C has like 80GB left ????

But I also do some testing of software so it leaves things , that is why I do a complete format and a clean reinstall every year.

I mostly combine it with some buying of upgrades like Black Friday.

It keeps my "old"system running smooth and crapless ;-)
