Problem previev & rendering GoPro8

Piotr-Diszer wrote on 2/26/2021, 7:58 PM

For three weeks, the unpleasant Mr. *** from Magix totally ignored the request for help with Vegas problems with the preview and rendering of GoPro8 movies. The preview of 4K / 50p footage drops to one frame per second, and all edges are jagged when the movie is rendered. This is not possible with this program. Can someone help? Because *** is only interested in not writing about the problem to his boss. I enclose a link to the original material. What screwed up Vegas? Every new version means bigger problems. With SV14 and SV16 it was refined, and now program-junk. And I can't afford Adobe.

It renders this movie to HD 50i format and has a jagged edge.

Please share project properties and MediaInfo for the footage as well as render settings.

This is probably caused by the downscaling+interlacing of 2160p50 to 1080i50 and not a result of Vegas not able to edit Gopro8 footage. For the preview problem, use proxies instead of the HEVC originals.

Try rendering with Best quality not Good.

Render as progressive not interlaced. Unless your output is for a Blu-ray disc.

For render I'd recommend MagixAVC and to render to a progressive template (not "upper field first").

Is there a reason you are rendering to 50p? Normally I'd recommend 1080p25 and use the added frames for slow motion when you want to emphasis a bit of action with the go pro (you can use velocity for this or add a clip at "project frame rate" to get automatic 2x slowdown on a 25p timeline.

For preview if your computer is struggling with it, click on project media and select "create video proxy." Many machines will have trouble with 4K 50 HEVC, I'd be surprised if it played back well.

I downloaded this file. In VP 18 I'm getting quite smooth playback (steady 50p) at preview/auto.

I changed it to a more normal framerate- 25p and get smooth playback at 25p at best/full.

My computer isn't especially powerful- see my signature. It is using my Intel iGPU for decoding.
Can you share a screenshot of your file i/o tab? I recommend leaving hardware decoding to auto and uncheck legacy HEVC decoding.

I also downloaded your file, the jagged edges are indeed caused because you interlaced. Downscaling to progressive gives a perfect result.

For best quality, I would also recommend to use Voukoder instead of Magix AVC when downscaling 4k to 1080.
