Pros and Cons: Upgrading to VPro 19 vs. Subscribing to VEGAS Post 365

Are there any good general discussion links to help with the decision to continue upgrading to V19 Pro vs. switching to the VEGAS 365 Post subscription? Will all old projects continue to work with the subscription? Can the subscription-included mobile to timeline feature be used with 8K smartphone mobile video (Samsung S21 Ultra 5G)?

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro

Dual Monitors: Now have TWO Samsung 4K 27-in (3840x2160) monitors both using DisplayPort

Desktop Sound: Stereo speakers with sub-woofer. Headphones. Earbuds.

VEGAS Pro 21.0, version 208. Have used VEGAS Pro since Sony days. Movie Studio also.

Voukoder 1.7.1.0

Source Footage: Mostly XAVC-S 4K MP4 with some MTS HD at times. Have used Samsung S21Ultra 5G footage.

Some upscaling of older videos. Many videos are more than 10 years old. Trying to learn more color correction and grading techniques. Any help with flicker reduction without motion blur is welcome!

Post 365 includes VEGAS Effects and VEGAS Image, as well as VEGAS Pro 19, and every update for it and any future versions released so long as your subscription is current. Also included is a huge library of music and stock video clips you can use in your projects, and an AI powered text to speech plugin. Old projects will still open, and you can still keep your current perpetually licensed versions of VEGAS installed and running alongside VEGAS Post 365... Just keep in mind that while newer versions can open older projects, the reverse isn't always true, so back up projects before saving over them in a new version in case you want to be able to go back to one of your perpetually licensed versions for whatever reason (like to get around a bug that pops up).

The cons, it's a subscription, so you have to keep paying it for it to keep working. You can only have it activated on one computer at a time vs. 2, but you can activate and deactivate at will to keep different systems with an active copy. Also, there may be differences in included apps/plugins vs. the perpetual versions, so pay close attention to what's included with each when making your choice.

Excellent points, fr0sty. I forgot about its one computer limitation when traveling.

I also found Release VEGAS Pro 365 - General Discussion which also helped, but it is from the vintage VEGAS 15-16 era.

If you need to travel, just deactivate your home copy, and activate your laptop copy, and you'll be good.

Use the "Deactivate the software from this PC" option in the Help menu. It's back in VP 19 b 361.

From the main FAQs: "9. How many computers can I use VEGAS Pro on?
You can use VEGAS Pro (14.0 and later) simultaneously on 2 devices. VEGAS Pro 365 can be used on 1 device at a time.

To deactivate a device, so you can activate a different one, visit your MAGIX account > My Products > Show More Details > Deactivate. This option can be used only once a month.

In VEGAS Pro 14.0 or later, you can also choose Deactivate the Software on this PC from the Help menu This option can be used as often as you wish. An internet connection is required."
