question about VMS upgrade rebates

Does Sony ever offer rebates to users that upgrade from a previous version of VMS instead of a competitors product. (in addition to the regular rebate that has no qualifications)

All the upgrade rebates I've seen are only for competitors products, not earlier versions of VMS. Its pretty common with the other s/w companies to allow either competitors products or earlier versions of their own products, but Sony doesn't seem to allow that. Anybody ever seen them offer it?

dwalby,
at least when a new version comes out, there certainly will be special offers. I for one got this kind of offer, when VMS HD 11 upgrades came out last summer. And this offer was repeated later in August-September too.

Vegas Movie Studio users! Upgrade to the latest versions of Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum or Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum Production Suite, and save over 20%! Only through June 30!

Sony always offers a discounted upgrade price for purchasing a new version of the Sony software you already own. It may not be as huge as the rare cross-grade offer, but it's usually pretty good. Even after the initial introductory special offers the upgrade price is often about 30% of the full price.
