I been a Vegas Movie Studio PE 9.0 for many years and now, since the transfer to Magix and a crashed computer, I have reached a dead end with a partially finished project. The work is completed with a "vf" file recording my work but I have not been able to produce a DVD for general viewing. Could someone please advise of suitable package to replace the Vegas version and also to replace Architect to produce the finished work into a DVD form.

Movie Studio 9.0 was released under Sony ownership, but there's a reasonable chance that your MS/DVDA details and serial numbers were transferred to MAGIX when MAGIX assumed ownership of the Vegas brand in 2016. If you know the email address and password that you used when originally purchasing/registering/activating MS 9.0, you may be able to access your products via MAGIX's My Account (My Products) and download MS 9.0 and DVDA from there for re-installation.

However, if you don't have that information, you may be able to find links to MS 9.0 and DVDA from the following archive of Sony Vegas products: https://web.archive.org/web/20160630020014/http://download.sonycreativesoftware.com:80/current/

You will need to select/download the versions that mirror your original purchases as well as knowing the serial numbers of those products in order to register/activate on your new computer.

Important: Please note that the archive list is not an official website of either MAGIX or Sony.

Given that you have a new computer, you might want to consider upgrading to Vegas Pro 21 - you may even be eligible for upgrade pricing from MS 9. The upgrade process will let you know about that eligibility.

There is a trial version of Vegas Pro 21 so it might be worth taking advantage of to see if Vegas Pro will accept .vf project files. I'm fairly sure that Vegas Pro used to, but .vf doesn't currently appear in VP21's import/export specifications.

Please note that both Vegas Movie Studio and DVD Architect are now discontinued products, so it would be advisable to get DVDA back from one of the aforementioned processes.

If you have the serial numbers, you could try downloading also from https://www.magix.com/int/support/my-service-center/product-downloads/

If you don't have that information, please see if this comment helps: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/how-can-i-re-download-an-older-version-i-paid-for--122673/#ca763644

And I don't know if this applies to your case, but generally: Older versions of Vegas than 14.0 are licensed under a system (as previously used by Sony) which permits use on multiple computers by one user; after an unspecified number of installations on different or updated PCs you may need to contact support to reset your "installation count".
