Reinstall: key not accepted

Philip wrote on 2/3/2019, 11:10 AM

Sorry; you've undoubtedly answered this many times, but I can't seem to find it when searching for "reinstall." I had to reinstall W7. Reinstalling MSP15 and DVD Architect now, my key is not accepted -- red X to right of field -- because Magix thinks it's already installed. Is there a way I can clear this on a Sunday, or do I need to wait for support Magix tomorrow?

Thanks. Maybe something of this nature would be good as a sticky; I didn't see one, but that may well be user errror. Thanks again.

Try the FAQ solution mentioned here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/can-t-install-vegas-pro-edit-14-it-says-it-s-installed-already--110158/

Thank you very much for your prompt response. I ran the FixIt, which uninstalled. When I went to reinstall, however, I thought twice: I had installed from my most recent download (11/23/2018) of MS15, a file named VEGAS_Movie_Studio_15.0.0.157_Platinum_INT_x64.exe, which, if I recall, was an updated build. In any case, have now installed from a different file, vegasmoviestudio15platinum_dlm.exe, which I had downloaded last March, which installed both MS and DVD Arch. By going to my account, I got the correct serial numbers and these allowed me to register both prodcuts. without a hitch. The MS build is 157, DVD is 84. Maybe this will help someone else.

My remaining question is, what is that other file; it also indicates 157. Was this an update to the build, or do I have the latest now?

Thanks again!

You have the latest build, currently #157. That other file is the "main (direct) installer". Pls read here (and the FAQs linked there for more).

And thanks for coming back and confirming that the suggested solution worked.
