[RESOLVED] Render Options for 'Gaming Video'

craig-turner wrote on 3/8/2017, 2:24 AM

Hi All,

Yesterday I took the plunge and bought Vegas Movie Studio 14, after using a 30 day trial, which I think was a different version.

In the trial version I had no issues creating a nice video, based of PC Gaming footage, however in this full version I cannot seem to find a good render setting ?

I need the project to render at 50FPS, and at 1920 as minimum, and saved to HDD - but I cannot find the best settings?

Videos need to play on Youtube - and large screen displays at times.

All the videos I made yesterday have a very slight blur to them, due to low FPS renders?

The game footage is pretty fast, as it is based on Race Cars - at high resolution (Simulation Level).

Can anyone help on the best settings for me please?

PS. In the help section it states in the advanced properties when 'making movie' you can select 'customize template' ......... I see no such button at all ??

Movie Studio 14.0 (Build 87)

I think in the basic version of Movie Studio there are no advanced render settings. You'd need the Platinum version.

And can you 'upgrade' to this, or do you have to buy the whole Platinum version?

I don't know if there are upgrades from basic to Platinum. You should contact the Magix sales support. But test the demo version of Platinum before because there are other properties which might need a fine tune to get better results and I'm not sure the current Platinum version would fullfil you needs.

On the other hand I don't know why you got good results with your trial but bad results with the version you bought. Was it different versions (basic/Platinum)? When it is about project, media and render properties there is no difference between a trial and the commercial version.

Hi Marco, I had a trial of 11 I think - and I am sure it was not the basic version ..... I know it had 'HD' in the title. When the trial ended, I was told to purchase - so I did, and it took me straight to Movie Studio 14 ......... which I thought would be a one for one comparison of what I trialled ......... clearly not, as I have just tested the Platinum version and this is what I actually need.

Very misdirected here indeed, and not happy as I cannot find anywhere to upgrade or change this basic product !!

I'd really would call the sales support, tell them what happened and ask to refund the basic version because you intended to buy the Platinum version.

Anyway - test the trial of Movie Studio 14 Platinum before. Chances are the loss you see is based on the resampling process the current build of Movie Studio uses and it will last until the next update at least to get this one sorted.

+1 for Marco. on all points above.

Thanks Marco ......... I am struggling to get hold of an actual support email / or EU number to call, the support page is a little strange I find

In which country are you located?

craig-turner wrote on 3/8/2017, 4:47 AM

All sorted I found a UK Number and called them. Will be refunded for the basic version today, and will purchase the platinum version once I have been refunded. Thanks for the help Marco, it was all down to the wrong product in the end I think.

This can be [RESOLVED]

My opinion: It is still a shortcoming that Movie Studio's Renderwizard is not able to render 1080p50 without manually changing rendertemplates. A 1080p50 timeline will be rendered to 1080i30 when you choose AVCHD or to 1080p25 when you choose MP4. Both renderings will result in blurry images due to the auto resampling mode, which would be no problem when it is rendered correctly to 1080p50 or at least to 1080i50.
