Retrieving Vegas files from a broken pc

Gideon-Piesse wrote on 8/23/2022, 1:48 PM

I was editing a video using Sony vegas pro on my pc however my pc has stopped working so im wondering if there is any way to get access to this video file with another device? I tried logging into vegas using my serial code but it said it is already in use on another device. Will this serial code have my video file saved so i can continue editing on a seperate laptop? or are there any other ways i can retreive this file? Would love some help. Thanks

I have no idea how the paid Vegas subscription service works (though I doubt it has cloud backup of project files and certainly not content), but assuming you weren't using another cloud backup service for all of your data (like OneDrive or iCloud) then you're going to need to connect the storage from your broken PC to a good PC to access the data on it.

And... "Sony" Vegas Pro?

If you got an "error code -24" message, please see if you can find help from this Support document.

If you have a MAGIX account, go to "My products" there to see if there is a "Sony vegas pro" listed and deactivate it. (Applicable only to versions 14 and later from MAGIX, not "Sony".)

If the drive itself on the 'broken' PC is ok, you could remove the hard drive and open it (like an external drive) using a USB hard-drive adapter connected to a working PC.
