shuffle bug ? or?

FayFen wrote on 5/2/2019, 9:26 AM

In the last few days I did few small 2min projects in VMS16.

Just basic 15-20 cuts from ~ 20min files .

Along the projects I needed to shuffle few times and to move events around.

What I found that I was able to move event to the left over one event (switch places) but not to the right. Even I moved it just over one and got the "cut highlight" it didn't went there but over the second event. So it moved 2 events to the right and not just one.

Am I clear?

Thank you.

**Side note, rendering such simple project with nothing else took 2X it's duration on my i5-6600 at 98%

@FayFen when you grab and move the clip/event you want moved, move it over the clip/event you want it inserted after and release. It will snap into place. If you move it to the split at the end of the clip/event you want it to be after and it touches the 2nd clip/event it will move behind the second clip/event. Same in reverse, it's a very quick tool.

Hope that is clear!

No bug but intended, you first have to make space enough on the place you want to shuffle to. For the finishing touch to have also to learn the right use of the autoripple function.

If by "shuffle" you mean dragging the event with the right mouse-button and selecting "Shuffle" from the context-menu, then there's no need to make space before moving the event, because this is exactly what this feature is meant for. And it should work same way no matter if you move an event to the left or to the right. Both works fine here.

Marco. is of course right. You may need to practise where on the event you need to place the event you move to get the right result, especially if that event is longer than the one below.

Event Shuffling:

I think he is overlapping the cut which will send the clip/event after the 2nd clip/event. This is normal behavior. The clip/event moved will go to the end (after) the clip/event it touches. I think the best practice is to move a clip/event onto the clip/event you want it to be placed after (or before) and stay away from the cut/split. It is fast and simple.

Oh... thank you all, I see my mistake. as it happened often I wasn't aware that one dosen't need to "select" the cut.

Indeed I was using shuffle mode, and thank you marco for that tip, I was looking for better quick way to shuffle.
