just wondering. I constantly get the offer when closing Vegas pro, but when I fill out the form, I even get asked for my VAT number and then the message that I can't actually buy it.
You may need to contact infoservice@magix.net to get advice from MAGIX - it would be an interesting sales approach if MAGIX weren't offering Black Friday deals to EU residents.
The question still remains: why $100 in US, but £149/€149 in UK/EU? It's not like anything is being shipped, or that there is a stocking cost (sure, appreciate that you need to cushion yourself from exchange rate fluctuations - except, well, Magix is a European company) .. it's an old price comparison moan from those of us on this side of the Atlantic
Or use a VPN and change your location country to any country you like for your IP, not sure if this would work tough.
I Also agree with the poster that the price differences and sales should be kept to a minimal. It is not fair that Europeans which are already taxed higher than US citizens are missing extra out on sales on top of those extra taxes - on what is just a digital product with no shipping cost.
I used to live in the US. My banking and PayPal info are still US based. Coming here to the EU, I was shocked by that wonder thing called VAT, which to me is insane. I think that is the price difference in the States and elsewhere.
Computer equipment costs more. The same products cost less in the States.
Similarly in Australia, there is a 10% GST (Goods & Services Tax) which is much the same in principle as the EU VAT (TVA in France) but which apparently is higher at 15%. The exchange rate between the EUR and USD is not all that different so prices ex-VAT/TVA are fairly reasonably on a par, but the exchange rate between the AUD and the USD is around 0.65/1.00 so the base cost of an US (or EU or UK) purchase is already much, much higher even before GST is applied. Even worse, in Australia any government levies, excise duties or taxes applicable to the purchase for any other reason also attracts the GST - so the Australian government applies the GST to it its own levies, excise duties and taxes; i.e. they tax their own taxes.
Thank you, this is what I'd been looking for. But I'm confused - I couldn't find the EU equivalent of the 99 S the other day on the site, as there was no "EU" button, as I mentioned in my other answer...and the magix site didn't have the offer, which also doesn't really make sense.
Instead of the magix.com websites, why not go directly to the actual VEGAS product website?
Click the globe button at the top bar there to see your area's version of that URL (as shown in @Dexcon's screengrab above).
well, that is exactly the site the offer appearing when I close my Vegas 21 is sending me to, and I'm not allowed to buy from there as I'm in the EU. But the problem seems solved now, thanks all.
Click the globe button at the top bar there to see your area's version of that URL (as shown in @Dexcon's screengrab above).
@Mindmatter did you "click the globe button to see your area's version of that URL"? I select "International" as my country is not listed and see this:
As I am in an EU country also, I am not allowed to buy from the /us/ site either.
And actually on the MAGIX site there is the sale as well.
(IF you tried to use an email offer first, in my experience it's not always possible to change the area or currency.)
