[solved] VEGAS Pro 19 importing offline media from VEGAS stream

EditingNewbie wrote on 7/8/2022, 1:25 AM

I’m new to editing so there might be some jargon I’m unfamiliar with so I apologize in advance!

I have been trying to get my stream recording to import into pro and I’ve followed the instructions posted but it shows up as media offline. I’ve tried QuickTime but no luck and finding the codec through VLC but the files won’t be accepted there. I’ve also changed preferences so that the file won’t close when not active.

Also, not sure if it’s related but I get parse errors for screen capture on the mp4 files. I think they are both mp4 file issues so maybe they are related?

I use windows 11 now and VEGAS is fully updated

Thank you for listening!

I shouldn’t have said a paid version but simply that VEGAS was paid for but I realize now that it isn’t necessary to put that in this forum so I edited to original post haha

I’ve seen people ask if it was before in other spaces so I thought to include it if it helped.

Thanks again for all the input!

Just to clarify, nothing wrong in mentioning using paid versions. "Paid version of Sony" (19) was what made us wonder.

@EditingNewbie, are you referring to VEGAS Stream? You should not need to turn anything extra on for those files to be imported into VEGAS. Are you using the "import" script? I import those files all the time. Perhaps some screenshots showing what you are doing would be helpful.

@jetdv yeah, VEGAS Stream. I toggle all three options in recording in the stream and it’s all set to mpeg2 and mp4. It records what I want and saved as a nblvpst file that I can find and script into Pro 19 but it shows up offline media file as soon as it’s imported. I don’t see anyone else with this problem so I believe it’s probably something I missing but I’m pretty sure I’ve done what Vegas has posted as procedure, so I’m not sure. I should have enough GB space as well. I’ll edit this with a pic asap

@EditingNewbie Here's the files (highlighted) from the last tutorial I recorded.

Then I went to the Import from VEGAS Stream script and selected the NBLVPST file

Next it imported all of the streams onto the VEGAS timeline

Finally, here are the settings I use in STREAM:

@jetdv Bro thank you so much! I could see that my files weren’t being saved to the same drive and it fixed everything. You are a lifesaver!

Glad I could help.
