Some people have successfully loaded the MJPEG codec and gotten Movie Studio to work with it.

But with my Action Cam, I've found the best results by loading the video into Windows MovieMaker Live and then outputting it as High-Definition footage. This will output an MP4 that works just great in Movie Studio.

Post your media file properties using MediaInfo, a free download from Sourceforge.
Likely there is an easy solution in Vegas.

Steve, I have used that solution in the past and yes it works fine, but it is time consuming and you shouldn't have to due this. You would think Sony would be compatible with its own formats. Sony, get your act together and supply us with a fix. Thanks for the replies.

Since they (SCS) monitor the MS forum very periodically indeed, you should try product suggestion.
musicvid10 and Steve G have given us peer support on this problem several times.

The Mainconcept MJPEG trial codec should solve it. It doesn't expire.
http://downloads.mainconcept.com/mdl/mdl.php?downloads.mainconcept.com+MotionJPEG+MJPEGCodec_RETAIL_v3.2.4.exe

"Sony, get your act together and supply us with a fix."
After looking at the "ActionCamera," I just can't see Sony dropping everything to support every $40 toy coming out of China.

"You would think Sony would be compatible with its own formats. "
Not so. They all use free, unlicensed, and often unregistered codecs. Many different variations on those.

All that properties say above is that Sony aviplug.dll attempted to open the file, and didn't succeed. Imagine that.

well i tried to get the MC codec and it made me put in my email address to get a download link via email. the email did not come....

@gary-beckwith I tested this as well and I did get the email from MainConcept GmbH. It was in the Trash can and stated: "...please follow the link and/or instructions below: unknown". That's why I mentioned another link in your thread, which gave me "MJPEGCodec_RETAIL_v3.2.4.exe".
