You are droping it on a track that actually has a video on it right?

I couldn't get it to work well until I did that. I also close the preview window and that speeds things up a bit.

You have a GPU activated card right?

I have exactly the same experience yesterday. Also the help files are not being displayed. The other newblue effects are working ok. Have submitted a the problem to Vegas support, but no response as yet.

@ D7K

Could you explain what you mean by 'you are dropping it on a track that actualy has video on it right?'

I can find nothing on the NewBlue website that indicates this must be so and in fact watching a few of their videos they appear to be used on video overlays unless I'm missing something which is often the case LOL.

@Northall

By help files I take it you mean that by clicking on the '?' mark (by hovering the mouse over it indicates plug-in help) nothing is brought up? If so, I'm experiencing the same.

i had that problem too..it turns out for me that the titler installed 64 bit on my 32 bit system... got the 32 bit instal and everything works now
D7K wrote on 8/23/2012, 10:51 AM
When you read the NewBlue help file on the titler, it explains that this FX must be dropped on the video segment where you want to use it. I did that and it works for me.
jetdv wrote on 8/23/2012, 11:12 AM
D7k, Titler Pro is a generated media that can be added to any video track. It happens to also be available as an FX that can be added to an event on the timeline but that is certainly not a requirement. I'd say 99.9% of Titler's usage is done using the Generated Media - just like all the other titlers.
vkmast wrote on 8/23/2012, 11:22 AM
jetdv,
are you talking about 'Titler Pro' or the MSPSuite 12 add-on 'NewBlueFX 3D Titling and Video Effects' or are they one and the same? I'm just wondering because according to NB Support one can't have those on the same machine. So I could not test to see what the MSP 12 Suite NB FX bundle contains, because I have the Titler Pro bundle with VP11.
Northaal wrote on 8/23/2012, 12:13 PM
When I downpoaded the Production suite bundle there was only one file avaiIable relating to the New Blue suite of programs. It didn't specify whether it was 32 bit or 64bit. How do you get the 32bit version?
Regarding the help files - if you select the help from the programs listed on the desktop under the New Blue folder, Windows says the .CHM file is missing.
D7K wrote on 8/23/2012, 2:02 PM
In the help file is says specifically that it should be added to the video segement you want it to appear. This is the only way I've got it to function well in SVMS (11) or SMS (12). It appears that it is sensitive to the configuration of each computer. But that is the way I've found that it works well on my computer.

Where to find 64 bit/32 bit: on your download page in the "my account section" you can download your current software and they have both the 32 bit and 64 bit stuff there.

I have been adding it to the video segment. That is when the error message appears in the preview window about the missing dll file. Also when selecting the titler from the list of effects, the same error message is showing in the thumbnail window where the example effects are shown. This is before trying to place it on the timeline.
In my opinion there does seem to be missing files, or the wrong version of software is available for download.
In my list of downloadable software I have:
32 and 64 bit versions of Movie studio Platinum

32 and 64 bit versions of Magic bullet Quick looks

New BlueFX 3D Titling and video effects - only a single file, no choice of 32 or 64bit versions

DVD Architect Studio version 5 build 161

Sound forge audio studio Version 10.0 Build 178
(all versions in english)

The New Blue video effects all work OK but not the titler.

Stillawaiting a reply from the support team.
D7K wrote on 8/23/2012, 7:29 PM
Yep, something sounds like its not working right.

BTW, for those interested here is the direct quote from the help files for the NB Titler: "TitlerEX is added as an effect directly to a video clip. When used this way, the Titler project will be overlaid on top of your video."

BTW, I could not find a SoundForge download, and was told by tech support to go to a link and just use my old serial number (from 11).
AlanADale wrote on 8/24/2012, 1:03 AM
I have the Titler on a separate event - often as a text event and it works just fine and I'm guessing as it's supposed to. Scrolling forward to minute 1:47 of this video shows my setup although please note this is not my video

@jetdv The release that came with VMSP Suite is entitled 'NewBlue TitlerEX - Open FX' . With the Titler open and then going to Help - Check for updates it comes back that an update is available .......latest 1.1 Build 12.0815 with a few bugs being now fixed. Clicking on Download opens the web page and the title of the download is NewBlueTitlerProForWindowsSetup 10-1208.exe with the file size being 83.5MB

Question: does this update/download apply to the bundled package that came with the the purchase of VMSP Suite or will users be in for a nasty surprise i.e. extra costs after this download is installed? I'm noting particularly the mention of the word Pro in the download title even though this is not mentioned in the VMSP packaged version. I trust that I've explained this well enough LOL.
vkmast wrote on 8/24/2012, 1:18 AM
Boy,
you seem to be asking basically the same thing as I did in my post above. Would be interesting to know indeed what's the difference between TitlerPro (VP11 bundle) and NB TitlerEX (MSP12 bundle), as VPro 11 Titler Pro update links to the same download.
Markk655 wrote on 8/24/2012, 7:24 AM
For Ex that came with VMS 11 Plat vs Titler Pro...

Key differences includes-
- Pro includes keyframing
- Pro includes ability to use NB FX (Video Essentials, Light Effects, etc...) within Titler as extra effects
- Pro includes an undo button

There are probably others, but I think those are the big ones.
vkmast wrote on 8/24/2012, 9:05 AM
Markk,
thanks. Do you have MSPS 12 (with new NB FX) and VPro 11 (with Titler Pro) installed and working on the same machine?
Still wondering if and why the same update file.
Markk655 wrote on 8/24/2012, 10:50 AM
I have MSPS12 with the NewBlue download (FX & Titler). When I had Titler Pro installed, it just crashed. So, I uninstalled Titler Pro (it was just a trial). No Vegas Pro either.
jetdv wrote on 8/24/2012, 12:05 PM
vkmast: Titler Ex is a "baby brother" to Titler Pro similar to how Movie Studio is a "baby brother" to Vegas Pro. Yes, Titler Ex is available as a generated media.

northaal: The TitlerEx installer contains both the 32-bit and 64-bit version. We've also discovered an installer issue if you are using a 32-bit OS that will cause the "missing titler.dll" error. Start a help ticket at newbluefx.com and I can help you with that error.

Boy Atlantis: Any "TitlerPro" update file is not and update for TitlerEx. It appears the TitlerEx "Check for Updates" function is checking the wrong location. I will get this reported. In short, NewBlueTitlerProForWindowsSetup 10-1208.exe is not and update for TitlerEx

To all: you should not have both Titler Ex and Titler Pro installed at the same time. If you have Vegas Pro 11, use Titler Pro. If you only have Movie Studio, either use Titler Ex or purchase Titler Pro but don't have both installed at the same time.

vkmast wrote on 8/24/2012, 12:09 PM
jetdv,
thanks, this makes the situation clear enough :) Good of you to note the Check for updates thing also.
AlanADale wrote on 8/24/2012, 2:54 PM
Yes, thanks for the clarification jetdv - very much appreciated.
ptheisen wrote on 8/24/2012, 6:02 PM
jetdv, maybe you can offer me some advice as well.

I have VMS 12 and Newblue Titler EX installed and working fine on a dedicated audio-video computer, my issue is related to activation of the software, probably due to a combination of my problems and Newblue problems.

When running the Newblue standalone ManageActivation.exe, it refers only to Titler Pro, not Titler Ex, and entering my Titler EX serial number does nothing to enable either the "Activate" or "Manually Activate" buttons to be selected. When running the activation module from within the plug-in's help menu, it does refer to Titler EX, but it does not provide an offline activation method.

Unfortunately, there's something slightly wrong with my installation of Windows 7 64bit, I cannot get it to connect to the internet no matter what. Until now, this hasn't been an issue because I don't want it connected to the internet and all my other software has provided an offline activation method. But right now, I'm kind of stuck, and Titler EX is telling me I only have 11 more days to activate it.

Do you have any suggestions?
jetdv wrote on 8/25/2012, 8:30 AM
ptheisen, you will enter your serial number during installation. Once installed, no further activation is required. In short, you don't need to open the activation program.
ptheisen wrote on 8/25/2012, 11:56 AM
jetdv, thanks very much for the quick response. I was concerned that when the days remaining counter in the plug-in's activation module reached zero, I wouldn't be able to use Titler EX anymore. If that is not the case, then there is no problem. I guess I'll know for sure in about eleven days. :)
Markk655 wrote on 8/25/2012, 1:26 PM
I now see what the error is....

When I had the NB Titler Ex (included with VMS11) installed on VMS11 and after I installed VMS12, it worked fine. After I installed Titler Pro, I had to uninstall both versions and then I reinstalled the Titler EX that came with VMS12. Now, if I use the Media Generator, I drag it to the timeline, I get no response (no crash either). If I drag it to a video event, I get a thumbnail that says "titler.dll not found".

I uninstalled it, ran ccleaner and reinstalled. I still get the same behaviour. If I recall, there was no 32-bit vs. 64 bit choice for the install (I'm on 32 bit). I also note that this is an OFX version of titler (compared to the one included with VMS11). For the record, titler.dll is in folder C:\Program Files\NewBlue\NewBlue Titler EX for Sony Vegas MSPPS.
jetdv wrote on 8/27/2012, 10:38 AM
If you're getting the titler.dll not found error, please create a help ticket at newbluefx.com and I'll get you the proper instructions to make it work until the installer gets updated.
