Sony Vegas Movie Studio 12 - 64-bit issue

Hi,

I started my video editing only recently with Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 (purchased the boxed software on discs through Amazon) and then decided to upgrade to SVMS Platinum 12 (purchased via download). I have the 64-bit version of SVMS Platinum 12 build 1184 and the original SVMS HD Platinum 11 is build 322. I'm not sure if the latter is 32 or 64-bit as the "About" box does not specify but I suspect it is 32-bit.

Having worked through some tutorials, I decided to install the NewBlueFX plugin - but quickly discovered that although the install was successful (installed from the SETUP.EXE on the SVMS HD Platinum 11 CD), the plug in not accessible at all in the programme.

I have so far left the SVMS HD Platinum 11 on my hard drive, along side the newer version, SVMS Platinum 12.

Some Google searching has turned up the fact that so far, Sony have not released a fix or a version update that allows access to this plug-in in 64-bit based systems.

I was wondering if anyone here has any news before I register a support ticket with Sony about this?

Thanks for your kind assistance,

In another post, I read that some 32-bit plugins may work after all, but will cause issues when working on longer projects causing crashes or corrupted project files. So the conclusion here is to stay away from 32-bit plugins.

The thread Ivan is referring to is here.
Read Chris Dolan's (SCS) post.
