Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10

This is my 1st post, I have used SVMS for approx 2 years with no problems at all, now I have a new PC with windows 7 on it, my problem is this, when I make the movie and goto burn it to my DVD burner, the burner isnt found.

This is what I do ( and have done so, for the last 2 years)

Tools
Burn Disc
DVD (message says scanning for devices)
New window opens up saying Burn DVD

Drive parameters is all greyed out ie its not found the burner

It burns BluRay disks but not DVD's

The burner is LG Blu-Ray ROM / DVD-RW Combi Drive

When I use the windows dvd maker and the burner within media player they both burn DVD's with no problems at all.

Any suggestions ?

It's possible that, if you've got the 64-bit version of Windows 7, Vegas isn't able to interface with its 64-bit drivers.

Although it is interesting that you can burn BluRays but not DVDs.

Have you tried downloading the driver from the disc burner's (not your computer manufacturer's) web site?

Yes I have the 64 bit version of win7, and yes it burns blu ray, scrub the bluray its not even doing that I was mistaken.

I have tried those options vkmast, but still no luck.

The burner reads and writes with no problems on the likes of windows 7 dvd maker and burns okay with windows media player, that in my mind looks like its the SVMS software itself that isnt recognising the burner for some silly reason.

I have checked and windows says my dvd/cd burner drivers are upto date.

When I goto burn a bluray the "render image and burn" option is greyed out and so is "burn existing image file" greyed out also.

Latest info after trying everything that I could maybe change.

When I try "Burn Track-at-Once Audio CD" it shows drive=No Device

When I try "Disc-at-Once Audio CD" I get "PQ List (Red Book) validation errors" with this "Critical: There are no tracks defined in the PQ list."

Therefore it appears that SVMS isnt seeing my DVD drive

Bugsey,
which version and build of DVDA Studio do you have installed? Does it give you the Pref. option to uncheck/check "use legacy disk drivers" ? The DVDAS 5.0 build 128 doesn't and I've seen some reports (cow link above) that an update helped. Tread carefully if you update though, some seem to have messed things up with that.
But maybe you've tried that too, so as a "last resort" you might see this thread and last post

10.0 Build 179, No to the legacy disk drivers, but I checked this, skip drive database, autodetect drive capablilities on startup, I have asked for technical help from Sony

By any chance do you have other DVD/BR burning software installed (eg. Nero)? You may have a conflict.I ran into that with Nero and my previous NLE. I haven't seen it with VMS, but it is probably a question worth asking.
