Sony Vegas Not Responding

Hey there guys...

I have a problem with my Sony Vegas Movie Studio hd Platinum Version 10.0...

1) After opening the program I click on play (to play a video I have constructed)...

2) It plays... But the screen is running slow, while the audio seems to play fine... Eventually the screens freezes...

3) The control buttons/ functions become unresponsive, then a little moving circle shows up...

4) Eventually a message shows up saying "Vegas Moving Studio HD Platinum is not responding"

If anone can help me out that would be really sppreciated...

Thank you

From your description it is impossible even to guess what media etc etc might cause this - but at least we know that you are using a 2 generations old version of VMS - so - a quick advice would be to install the newest trial version of VMS (which is an updated version of VMS12) and see if that cures your problem.

Ok... So if I update to the new version, do I have to redo my video? Or does it install the video into the new program? (Hope im making sense)

Newer versions of Vegas have always (99,99%) been able to open projects made by earlier versions.
One problem can be that something is faulty in your project file, however - and then you may not be able to use it in a newer VMSP.
But it is free and worth a try.

But if you change something using a newer version you can not open it in an older version - so you should save it under a new name - keeping the old project file for safety.

When you have installed VMSP12 you will still have VMSP10 fully functional on your machine - and so you will be able to use both versions.

No, you will not have to "redo your video" .. Newer versions of Vegas can import older projects. Older versions cannot import newer versions .. so .. if you import your project into a newer version of Vegas do NOT "save" it unless you want to purchase the new version.

You can re-name it and save it. That will keep your older version intact for your current version of Vegas.

What kind of video project do you have? Standard Def or Hi-Def? and describe the computer you are trying to run it on.

One thing to remember in the 64-bit version of Movie Studio Platinum 12.
From Release Notes:
When using the 64-bit version of Movie Studio, third-party plug-ins will work only if they are 64-bit plug-ins. Please check with the plug-in vendor for available updates. You can share projects between 32- and 64-bit versions of Movie Studio installations, performing editing as needed in 32-bit Movie Studio and finishing the project in 64-bit Movie Studio.

I have loaded media files to the time line along with music and sound effects, saved the project, but upon reopening the saved project the media that was introduced will not respond, at all, I get is a black thumbnail, none of the media that was saved will open .I have had to restart the project a number of times . I have reloaded Vegas 10 a couple of times hoping a new download would fix the problem but it did not fix the problem. In the past I did not have a problem creating a dvd successfully. What's going on ? I am running Windows 7- 64 bit

arto25,
Please start your own thread, to avoid any confusion between your problem, and the original poster's problem, which are different. Thanks.
