Any news on this? A discounted upgrade would be nice right now. In the past I have received the email with the discount the same day that the new version was released.
Don't hold your breath. Sony really doesn't care much about us or this board. Our fearless forum admin who never shows up, hasn't even put up a sticky letting us know that VMS 12 was out. They will get to their step children when they feel like it..... I hope. Cin
Belive me, if you had a competitors product (they are famous for high end programs for TV and Movies), you'd think Sony had tapped your phone. I mean updates that address issues, new versions that have real value (did not get an update in a year and a half, and then I left, still no update).
Users are the best source and while slow the free email support does eventually work and if you call and make yourself a pest that also works. Like no TrueBlue serial number on the download page for me.
But Vegas Movie Studio is the the best Prosumer product in the video production market. I'm just thankful that you more experienced users are willing to share your experience.
I logged in to post the very same question as the OP. Got VMS10 and need the upgrade VMS12 to do any editing on the new MOV files that my Canon DSLR produces (VMS10 will not do it on my machine).
I got the Upgrade email and purchased VMS12 Platinum for $48.71. The download was for Build #133 which I had already installed as a trial so I just pasted in the serial # in the confirmation email and my VMS12 registered A-OK.
I also downloaded the current version of DVDA but when I attempted to install it on top of my current version the installation failed. So I un-installed DVDA and ran the installer again; this time it worked fine.
NOTE: you do not have to wait for the eMail to receive the special upgrade price. If you qualify you will get the special price if you purchase while the offer is in effect.
Bill, if you email support and tell them you purchaced it t the full upgrade price they will refund you the difference. I did that with Acid Studio 9 and they had no problem with it.
I received the email with the special upgrade prices today. In early June I had upgraded VMS 9 to VMS 11. But, I will probably go ahead and get VMS 12 since I have a 64-bit Windows7 system. The NewBlue 3D titler that came bundled with VMS11 dies every time I try to use it.
Windows Version:7 64-bit
RAM:4 GBytes
Processor:AMD A6-3600, Quadcore, 2.1 GHz
Video Card:Radeon Graphics (built in)
Sound Card:Built into Motherboard

DVD Burner:HL-DT-ST DVDRAM DH70N SATA
Camera:Samsung SC-D365 Mini-DV Video Camcorder

The Video card is an AMD Radeon HD6530D builtin adaptor so I don't really know about its horsepower to be able to guess if it is the problem.
The GPU is likely your problem. NB recommends 512 MB GPU memory (that is in addition to your RAM). If you really like the NB titler EX, you can probably pick up a relatively inexpensive videocard that will slot into your system. If you would like to discuss your issue further, I would suggest starting a new thread.
For the longest time I had a problem with the NewBlue Titler, then I went to the help file, you drop it over the video (same track) and NOT on the title track (or at least in 12 you do), and it works:)
Thank you, folks for your input on the NB Titler problem. The Titler came when I upgraded to VMS11. I will try installing it in VMS12 (trial0 and see if will work.
