Steam Upgrade

0V3RK1LL wrote on 5/18/2019, 2:30 PM

I have Vegas pro 15 steam version. I like using steam and I am looking for the upgrade to 16 from 15 and I cant find it in the steam store. I need this now please. I did saw the upgrade to 16 on your website. Is that going to work with my steam version? Please send a link to that upgrade in case I got the wrong one. I need to buy this now please. I need support for HEVC. My Vegas Pro 15 stutters too much when editing. I read 16 supports HEVC so I'm assuming there's no more stuttering when previewing footage

I did saw the upgrade to 16 on your website.

When you are there you can try your program registration number for an upgrade, is that number not accepted, it maybe is not possible.

it asked me for a serial number and I did put my steam serial number and it said its not available for it. Steam version is vegas pro 15 edit. Im trying to get the vegas pro 16. Should I get the vegas pro 16 edit? They need to put an upgrade package in steam. This is all legit and I cant even do a thing here.

"Steam customers do not have a serial number for the MAGIX account. So, they need to check if an upgrade is available in the Steam Store or contact MAGIX Customer Service (infoservice@magix.net) to receive a personally upgrade offer." (From Magix Sales Dept., quoted here as well.)

Oh I see... where the serial number goes in mine its just blank. I have everything else. they shouldn't do that for steam users. if you look at the prices it is more expensive for me to buy it from steam than here.

Anyone knows of the steam upgrade? I do want to have everything in steam.

problem is that the support in steam is terrible. there are a lot of people, users asking for help over there and no one gives a crap. Steam brings in a lot of costumers. Why put the software there if they're not going to take care of them there? I see an upgrade bundle from vegas 14 to 16 but not for 15. That's they kind of thing I am talking about. Do they care? If they don't they should remove it from steam then.

You need to take that up with Steam. Note that the Steam versions do not necessarily have the same features as the Magix releases. That shows in the Steam versions pricing. At the moment you cannot have the best of both worlds.

0V3RK1LL wrote on 5/18/2019, 3:35 PM

wow you have no clue how steam works. sony vegas or magix, the seller the one that controls steam store. https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198333177505 MagixVegas that's the developer or who is in control of the sony vegas forum to be exact. Steam or valve has nothing to do with sony or magix. they just allow you to sell your product thus giving you a community page with forums. sony can do what ever they want. they can close it, ban everyone, never respond like they are doing right now or what ever.

I think the reason is that a normal user has to pay a lot more than on steam only versions which are always older versions of more than one year ago with less possibilities.
I told you in my first answer that when your number is not accepted it is not possible.

lol. we pay more in steam https://store.steampowered.com/app/883140/VEGAS_Pro_16_Edit_Steam_Edition/ for that you only pay 299 here. anyway, that's no excuse for no support. you pay 400 or 10 dollars or what ever for any software anywhere there should be support for it. Have you seen the prices in steam? and it is possible to upgrade in steam from 14 to 16. Not possible at the moment from 15 to 16 for some od reason. Look here

https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/9672/Upgrade_to_VEGAS_Pro_16_Edit/

Anyway, now this has turned into who has the last word or giving none sense responds with no help at all. unfollowed

So in the almost 1 1/2 to 2 hours of posting in a USER Forum, and saying that "I need this now please", you haven't purchased it?

You do realize, the people here that have responded to you, ARE NOT MAGIX EMPLOYEES, do not claim to be so, and are definitely "NOT SONY". Oh, and I don't work for either company, so note that. They have been quite tolerant, vkmast and j-v, and respectable towards you. Me, well, ...

Oh, and by the way, there are fantastic deals going on now at the MAGIX Vegas site, not to be confused with the MAGIX site (which has its own software sales going on, as well!).

And, my curiosity about your claim of HEVC, if it is stuttering and not working properly in your current version, exactly what do you think getting a newer version of the same product is going to do for you, if you have the same hardware?

From a Magix developer:

"The sales model through Steam does not allow for us to effectively deliver "upgrade" offers to existing users since we do not receive specific sales information on individual users on that platform. Really, it is up to Steam to start providing a mechanism which could provide a viable upgrade model.

With that said, to compensate for the lack of upgrades, from time to time VEGAS is sold on sale on Steam at a significant discount which should be (extremely) competitive with standard upgrade prices."

Quoted from https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/how-about-discount-for-steam-vegas-pro-users-to-pro-16--113319/#ca700348

(Maybe a "clue how steam works" as your clue link did not open.)

@0V3RK1LL

As I said you need to take that up with Steam.
