Strange issue - audio files suddenly not being recognized

Hi there, since the last build (424) of Vegas Pro 16 I've had a weird issue - when I'm editing a timeline, seemingly at random, I'm getting an error box saying that my audio files are not being recognized and I should replace them with another file or specify a new location.

This seems to happen at random - not been able to find a pattern yet; when I close the file and re-open, everything seems fine.

I initially thought this issue might be due to me editing off a NAS most of the time (although that was never an issue and I have a direct Gbit connection), bit the same happens when I edit directly off a SDD.

It happens for both mp3 and wav, although mp3 seems to be triggering this more often; pure speculation though, as mp3s are also the majority of files I use.

Anyone has experienced anything similar? Any suggestions what to do, it IS quite annoying when deadlines are tight and you have to restart a project 20 times....

Thanks!

Have you tried a full/factory reset? Close down Vegs Pro. Hold down the 'Ctrl+Shift' keys while double left clicking the Vegas Pro desktop shortcut. In the small window that appears check the box 'Delete all cached application data', then left click 'Yes'. This will reset Vegas Pro to the original installation default settings and delete the pesky application data that gets cached and can sometimes cause Vegas Pro to do strange things.

@Leon-Maree in case you misunderstood something from the advice given by Eagle Six, the even more detailed resetting instructions are here. And please continue in your own thread where you also were given these instructions.

Hi Eagle Six, thanks a lot. Will this affect any of my projects?

@rkm82 No, it only effects the setting and deletes the cached application data that is not part of your actual project. However, it never hurts to perform a backup, which we should be doing regularly anyway.
