Thanks... Would seem that I do qualify, but I already have the latest DVD Architect for Studio.
One other question: does anyone know if Studio 13 supports the changes MS did in the 1394 stack in Windows 8.1? After installing the Windows update, all my software stopped capturing via firewire. There is no longer a 'legacy' driver and I couldn't get the Win7 legacy 1394 driver to work in Win 8.1. I know it's older tech, but I have some CanonHV20 footage I need to archive to hard drive.
This isn't a 1394 hardware/driver issue. I've tried several different cards with different chipsets. From what I've read online, this also affects high-end Pro audio equipment. Those users are not upgrading to Win 8.
I have 8.1 on my editing computer and it seems to be capturing via Firewire just fine.
I am using a Canopus ADVC 110 for my capture device it requires no drivers but windows see's it.
I am using Vegas PRO 12 but I also have Movie Studio on another computer with Firewire I will check it out and report back later today.
(edit)
Just checked my Studio 13 64bit (latest build 379 as bought on the 14th) with my windows 8.1 on a older Intel Quad core with Firewire out of my old Sony Digital 8 camcorder and it captured footage fine. I am not sure what Microsoft changed, I do not know what the 1394 Stack is.
You do! I just upgraded to from Version 10 and am really loving it. If you buy now, the cost is the upgrade price, (Like 1/2 price) and then take another 25% off. DVD Architect is still on V5. Not sure when another version is coming out.
